The Telangana government launched the Mee Ticket app to ease ticket booking

There is no need to wait in lines for entry into a park, temple, sports facility, or community hall any longer. On 9 December Telangana IT Minister D Sridhar Babu launched the Mee Ticket app developed by the Telangana Department of Electronic Service Delivery.

Speaking at the launch, the IT Minister reiterated Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s commitment to delivering effective governance. He further noted that leveraging technologies in making citizen services accessible is important to meeting the commitment.

Functioning

The app integrates all types of ticket bookings into a single platform. The launch was held at the BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat and attended by Mee Seva commissioner Ravi Kiran, commissioner of the Industries Department Dr G Malsur, and zoo parks director Dr Sunil among others.

The app is supposed to allow users to book tickets for 15 prominent temples, 129 parks, 54 boating destinations, zoos, museums, RTC bus and metro services, and various entertainment zones across Telangana.

Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications (ITE&C) initiative enables payment through UPI, making it handy for users. The app will provide real-time booking confirmation. Additionally, the ticket will be generated in the form of a QR code, which can be validated by officials at the location.

It will also give allow the government to maintain transparency by enabling real time updates on occupancy and availability.

Additionally, all the major temples, parks, and locations will also have QR codes displayed on the outside. Visitors can scan the QR code through the app and book the ticket as well. A similar system is currently in place in the metro stations of Hyderabad allowing travellers to book tickets via Paytm or WhatsApp.

Quick, customisable, and efficient

Mee Ticket provides a platform for numerous bookings across the state. These services include: metro ticketing, park entry, temple rituals, zoo tickets, boating and adventure experiences, GHMC Sports Facilities, and GHMC Community Halls.

Currently, there are numerous ways to avail of metro tickets. While one can traditionally purchase these tickets at the station or use a dedicated metro card, digital means have caught on. WhatsApp and Paytm are the two most popular means to book these tickets with a seamless interface.

Hence, how does the Mee Ticket app stand up? It is on par with the other apps. The UI is quick and user-friendly, without any major flaws. Furthermore, even the payment is not delayed, with speeds rivalling Paytm’s. It provides a good alternative to the other apps in metro ticketing. However, if a person is only booking metro tickets and nothing else, an app like Paytm or WhatsApp would be more convenient as opposed to having a dedicated app for ticketing.

The app also provides a platform to book boating tickets across over 50 water bodies in the state. One can book a boating experience across the various types of boats and also book adventure experiences. It provides similar ticket booking services for over 60 parks across the state.

Additionally, one can also book GHMC Community Halls, namely the ESD Function Hall and the People’s Plaza. You can rent out the ESD Function Hall for ₹50,000 on the tip of your fingers.

The app also has ticketing services for the Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad and the Kakatiya Zoological Park in Hanamkonda.

However, booking the GHMC Sports Facilities is yet to be made available. Additionally, the app has yet to display an option to book RTC tickets or other entertainment zones.
