The world-class, next-generation industrial park will be developed across 600 acres in a phased manner in Future City. It will be dedicated to Japanese and other multinational companies setting up manufacturing plants in Hyderabad and is expected to attract investments exceeding ₹5,000 crore, according to an official press release.

The Marubeni Industrial Park will focus on electronics, green pharmaceuticals, precision engineering, aerospace, and defence sectors, aligning with Telangana’s objective of attracting foreign investments in advanced manufacturing and creating skilled employment opportunities.

Welcoming Marubeni to Future City, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said, “The Marubeni Industrial Park will be among the first of its kind in the proposed Future City. It is expected to create 30,000 direct and indirect jobs, enriching livelihoods and enhancing Telangana’s skill ecosystem.”

He further stated, “We are delighted to have Marubeni as a marquee investor for Future City, India’s first city designed to be net-zero. Given the centuries-long friendship between India and Japan, I am confident Marubeni will feel at home in Telangana.”

Dai Sakakura, executive officer and COO of Next Generation Business at Marubeni, said, “We are excited by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s vision for Telangana and Hyderabad and aim to be among the earliest to explore opportunities here.”

Delegation meets JICA

The official delegation also engaged in productive discussions with top management of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to seek financial support for flagship urban projects, including Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase 2, Musi River rejuvenation, radial roads connecting the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Regional Ring Road (RRR), and other infrastructure initiatives.

Accompanied by senior Telangana government officials, Revanth Reddy met JICA senior vice president Shohei Hara and other senior managers. He provided an overview of Telangana’s investor-friendly policies, Hyderabad’s appeal as a global investment destination, and the large-scale infrastructure projects underway in and around the city.

The chief minister informed JICA that the Metro Rail Phase 2 project, with an investment of ₹24,269 crore as a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Telangana, is under active consideration by the Union government. Telangana is seeking JICA’s support for the 48 percent loan component, approximately ₹11,693 crore. He emphasised that the state adheres strictly to the Indian government’s foreign debt funding norms.

Outlining his vision to develop Hyderabad on par with global cities like New York and Tokyo, the chief minister urged JICA to consider funding the Musi River rejuvenation project and new radial roads. Citing the longstanding relationship between JICA and Telangana, senior vice president Shohei Hara encouraged Chief Minister Reddy to pursue Metro Rail and other eligible projects through the Government of India for their support.

IT Knowledge Hub in Puppalguda

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, along with Ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, directed officials to initiate steps to establish an IT Knowledge Hub in the first phase across approximately 450 acres in the Puppalguda area. They held a meeting at the State Secretariat with Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari and key officials on Thursday.

The government had previously allocated over 200 acres in Puppalguda for MLAs, MPs, IAS officers, revenue officials, the Special Police Mutual Co-operative Society, and other societies. Officials informed the subcommittee of a Supreme Court ruling that they had cancelled these land allocations. They also noted that approximately 250 acres of land belonging to the Industrial Corporation is available adjacent to this area, making a total of 450 acres available for the IT Knowledge Hub’s first phase.

Officials reported that the IT Hub is expected to provide employment opportunities to 500,000 youth. During the tenure of former Congress Chief Minister, the late Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy, the foundation for HITEC City was laid, followed by the establishment of a Knowledge Hub and later the Financial District.
