Synopsis: The Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested District Cooperative Officer Rathod Bikku in Karimnagar for accepting a Rs 2 lakh bribe from a cooperative bank employee. Bikku had allegedly demanded Rs 7 lakh, but later reduced to Rs 5 lakh, to dismiss a complaint and release salaries. Caught in a sting operation, he was remanded to judicial custody after appearing before a special ACB court.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials nabbed Mancherial District Cooperative Officer (DCO), Rathod Bikku, in a sting operation, while he was allegedly caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from an employee of a cooperative bank.

According to ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Madhu, the arrest took place as Bikku was receiving the bribe, reported Telangana Today. The bribe was purportedly demanded to resolve multiple issues in favour of the employee.

These issues included withdrawing a formal complaint lodged against the employee, ensuring the release of salaries withheld during the employee’s suspension period, and refraining from taking disciplinary action based on the findings of an inquiry report.

The ACB officials revealed that Bikku had been harassing the cooperative bank employee, initially demanding a hefty bribe of Rs 7 lakh. After persistent negotiations and pleas from the employee, Bikku reportedly agreed to reduce the amount to Rs 5 lakh.

Unwilling to comply with the demand, the employee promptly contacted the ACB, which then orchestrated a carefully planned operation to catch Bikku in the act. The ACB laid a trap, leading to Bikku’s arrest at the moment he accepted the Rs 2 lakh bribe.

Following his apprehension, Rathod Bikku was presented before a special court designated for ACB cases in Karimnagar. The court ordered his judicial remand, and he was taken into custody.
