Union Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region Minister and Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy said on Sunday, 21 January, that the Lok Sabha elections would possibly be held in the first week of April.

Addressing party workers after inducting leaders from other organisations to the BJP, the Union minister urged the activists to be prepared for the polls.

Asserting that the BJP was set for an encore to return to power for a third time at the Centre, he said, “Narendra Modi is going to become the prime minister for the third time in a row,”

Reddy said the BJP had grown to be the largest party in the entire world with a membership of 17 crore people.

Every Indian should feel proud about it, he said, adding that in several states the Congress was not in a position to win even one seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

He recalled how the previous UPA dispensations had become synonymous with corruption. Even the then Central ministers went to jail for their involvement in coal and 2G spectrum scams, he said, pointing out that the CAG had stated that ₹12 lakh crore of corruption took place when the Congress was in power at the Centre.

Training his guns at the BRS in Telangana, the BJP state president said that the pink party alone was responsible for pushing the state into a veritable debt trap. The situation had come to a stage where the government was not in a position to pay salaries to the employees, he said.

He asked the people not to vote for the BRS as, if they did, it would be tantamount to throwing their votes in the Musi river. Telangana would get no benefit if one votes for the BRS, he said.

Congress at a loss

The Congress government in Telangana state was not serious about the promises it had made to the people, said Kishan Reddy.

The party did not have a proper road map as to how it was going to redeem the six guarantees and other promises, he added.

Reddy said that the party was not in a position to spell out how it was going to extricate the state from the debt trap. It does not have a clear plan on how it would complete the already-grounded irrigation projects.

The BJP leader said that before long, more leaders from other parries would join the saffron party. “They want to strengthen the leadership of Narendra Modi who represents a stable government and a visionary leadership,” he said, adding: “Ram Mandir will be a seminal moment in the history of India. It is a dream coming true for all Hindus who have been waiting for 500 years.”

The Union minister said Hindus in 150 counties would watch the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony on Monday, 22 January. “This will be a proud moment for all Hindus,” he said.
