KTR's brother-in-law Raj moves the High Court, gets relief for two days
BRS working president KT Rama Rao’s brother-in-law Raj Pakala on Monday, 28 October moved the Telangana High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the wake of notices issued to him on 27 October by Mokila police to appear before them at 11 a.m. the same day, in connection with a “party” held at his farm house in Janwada on October 26/27 night.
The High Court, however, allowed only two days’ time for him to appear before the police. Raj urged the court to issue instructions to the state government not to arrest him as the police were trying to implicate him in the case.
Raj moved a lunch motion in the High court after going incommunicado since morning on 28 October, following a raid by the police on his farm house in Janwada in Shankarpally mandal in Rangareddy district.
The petitioner’s counsel argued that the police had raided the house when his petitioner’s family was having a party and accused the police of implicating him in the case when one of the employees of Raj’s company, Vijay Madduri, tested positive for the drugs. He maintained that the case was politically motivated and said the police issued notice at 9.30 a.m. on Monday and asked him to appear before him at 11 a.m. the same day.
The prosecution held that the police had not said they were going to arrest Raj and that no one has so far been arrested in the case. The police had seized non-duty paid liquor bottles and also found that Vijay Madduri had tested positive for drugs. He said that the police may not take any severe action against Raj during the questioning.
The police issued a notice to him under BNSS 35 (3) that they needed more information from him in connection with the party that was held at his farm house. The police warned him that if he did not appear before them, they would take further action. The police pasted the notice on the wall of his villa when they found that the door was locked
The police, in the notice, said that during their investigation of the case (FIR 311/2024) under section 27,29 of NDPS At, 1985 and section 2 and 4 of TS Gaming Act, it was revealed that there were reasonable grounds to question him to ascertain facts and circumstances from him. The police said failure to appear before them would render him liable for arrest.
The police, in the notice, asked him not to tamper with the evidence in the case in any manner, not make any threat, inducement or promise to any person acquainted with the facts of the case, and produce all relevant documents, material required for the purpose of investigation.
Since last night, those who are contesting the claim of the police that an illegal party took place at the Janwada Farm house, a video went viral in which an excise department official was seen saying her staff did not find any drugs on the premises of house in their raid.
They also refer to the police saying that they had not found any drugs when they raided the farm house with sniffer dogs except for imported alcohol bottles and organising the party without permission.
There have been claims that one of the guests at the party Vijay Madduri who tested positive for cocaine had issued a statement that he did not do anything illegal in the country and that he had come back from Europe indicating that he consumed drugs there. He had submitted his passport and proofs to the police already.
Last night KTR had slammed the police department for dubbing a family dinner as a rave party and trying to project the event as one that was outright illegal.
