KTR lays foundation stone of IT Tower in Malakpet, takes dig at PM Modi

Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Monday, 2 October, laid the foundation stone for the IT Tower at Malakpet in Hyderabad.

“The Telangana government is investing ₹700 crore in this ambitious project, which is poised to create approximately 50,000 IT jobs in Hyderabad city,” the minister said.

The IT Tower is set to occupy 11 acres with a built-up space of 15,00,000 square feet.

In his address at the foundation-laying ceremony, KTR expressed confidence that the structure would replace the iconic Malakpet TV tower in people’s memories.

He pledged a swift completion of the IT Tower within 36 months, emphasising his commitment to attracting major IT companies and bolstering the local ecosystem.

He further said that the design of the Malakpet IT Tower was envisioned to foster innovation and collaboration, providing a platform for experts to develop cutting-edge technologies and applications.

Highlighting the government’s dedication to infrastructure development, Minister KTR revealed plans for a comprehensive metro network covering 415 km to cater to the increasing needs of Hyderabad.

A dig at the BJP

The minister praised Hyderabad as a model of peace and harmony, pointing out the absence of communal disturbances or lynching incidents, which he said was in stark contrast to states governed by Opposition parties.

He lauded the Muslim community leaders for their cooperation, such as postponing Milad-un-Nabi processions during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, showcasing the city’s Ganga-Jamuna tehzeeb (culture).

Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement about the Bharat Rashtra Samithi’s steering wheel, KTR clarified that the steering of the Telangana government was firmly in the hands of Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao, while All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen’s (AIMIM) steering was directed by Asaduddin Owaisi.

He humorously remarked that the BJP’s steering seemed to have landed in the hands of Adani, not Pradhani — a reference to the prime minister.

KTR also said that despite multiple visits by the prime minister, the Kaleshwaram project — an engineering marvel — was not duly acknowledged, having been completed in record time without the Central government’s support.
