KTR falling down from the vehicle

Telangana IT and Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, escaped providentially after he accidentally fell from a BRS campaign vehicle in the town of Armoor of the Nizamabad district on Thursday, 9 November.

The incident occurred when KTR — also the BRS’ working president — was waving at the crowd from atop the campaign vehicle while accompanied by party MLA A Jeevan Reddy to enable him to file his nomination from the Armoor Assembly constituency.

Apart from KTR, Jeevan Reddy, former Assembly Speaker and Rajya Sabha member KR Suresh Reddy, and other BRS leaders were also standing on top of the vehicle.

The incident

When the driver of the campaign vehicle applied brakes as another vehicle in front of it in the convoy suddenly stopped, the iron railing in front of the leaders on top of the first vehicle broke.

As a result, KTR slipped and fell above the windscreen while Jeevan Reddy and Suresh Reddy fell to the ground. The police and security personnel rushed to their rescue.

The driver applied the brakes when another vehicle in the convoy that heading in the front stopped suddenly.

After the incident, senior leaders contacted Rama Rao and Jeevan Reddy and enquired about their health condition.

A few minutes later, KTR left Armoor to take part in a roadshow in the Kondangal Assembly constituency.

Rama Rao said the incident occurred when the driver applied sudden brakes. Fortunately, everyone escaped unhurt, he said. He asked the cadre not to get panicked about his health condition as he was safe.

He took to X to assure people that he was “doing well barring a couple of minor injuries on the leg”.
