Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has said the day was not far when party chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) would once again become a key player in national politics. Addressing a meeting of party cadres from Amberpet on Friday, he said that parties other than the Congress and the BJP were set to gain importance.

KTR recalled how KCR’s call for a non-Congress, non-BJP front almost four years ago made little sense to people at the time. He said many were now coming around to the view that KCR had been right.

KTR said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP were pushing the country into crisis and the Congress had no alternative agenda to offer.

He dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s efforts as futile, saying no amount of propping up would help him succeed. He argued that the Congress’ failure had prompted young people to take on the BJP under the banner of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

BJP at its weakest in a decade; anti-incumbency growing in Telangana

KTR said the BJP could intimidate leaders from other political parties, but not the country’s youth, who did not fear it. He added that the BJP was currently weaker than it had been at any point in the past decade.

Turning to Telangana politics, KTR said he was certain that KCR would return as Chief Minister. He claimed the Congress, which won no seats in Hyderabad in the 2023 Assembly elections, came to power on false propaganda. He also alleged that the Congress and the BJP were working together in Telangana against KCR and the BRS.

KTR said anti-incumbency against the Congress government was growing in the state. He dared the state government to hold MPTC, ZPTC and municipal corporation elections, saying it lacked the courage to face voters.

He also accused the Revanth Reddy administration of ignoring El Niño warnings issued ten months ago. He said farmers were reeling from power cuts and people across the state were facing a drinking-water crisis. He added that students and unemployed youth also felt betrayed by the Congress’ false promises.

The BRS working president alleged that Revanth Reddy had conspired to keep the Kaleshwaram pumps idle and that the Chief Minister feared switching them on would give KCR the credit and expose his own lies. He claimed the Congress had run a false campaign that the Medigadda barrage had collapsed and that Congressmen themselves had brought it down. He added that Rahul Gandhi had been brought in to repeat the claim.

He directed party cadres to focus on the graduates’ constituency polls and work together, beginning with voter enrolment. He said the people would show the Congress its place during the elections.
