Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy has written to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, seeking the state’s cooperation in land acquisition for a series of major energy initiatives projected to draw investments of over ₹10,000 crore in the next three years.
In his letter, the Minister outlined proposals that include:
Setting up solar power plants in high-insolation zones across Telangana
Deploying Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to boost grid stability
Conducting pre-feasibility studies for Pumped Storage Projects to meet balancing power needs
Launching Joint Ventures between coal companies and State PSUs to fast-track implementation and maximise local economic gains
“These projects, while ensuring energy security, also hold the promise of job creation and environmental sustainability,” Reddy noted, underscoring the need for prompt land acquisition support from the state government.
He further added that proactive collaboration from the state would “set a model for Centre-State cooperation in building a greener, self-reliant future.”
