Ther Rajashyamala Yagam is a fire ritual to invoke Rajashyamala Devi, who is also known as Raja Matangi or Matangi Devi. She is one of the 10 Mahavidyas, or forms of the supreme goddess Parvati.
Rajashyamala Devi is considered the goddess of speech, music, knowledge, and power. She is also associated with politics, business, and prosperity.
According to experts, the Rajashyamala Yagam is some kind of insurance against failure. Those who perform it believe they will achieve success in all the endeavours they take up after that.
Experts say the yagam is also associated with rulers who want to spread and consolidate their power over their territory.
It is characterised by the chanting of mantras and offering articles to the fire god.
KCR performed the Rajashyamala Yagnam twice — once in 2014 when he became the first chief minister of the newly formed Telangana, and again this year when he inaugurated the BRS office in New Delhi.
The filing of nomination papers for the Telangana Assembly elections — scheduled for 30 November — will open on 3 November.
Given that, the BRS chief is understood to have found it the opportune time to invoke divine blessings.
Though the purpose of the yagam is the well-being of human beings, the timing of the yagam gives away its real purpose — winning the Assembly elections in Telangana.
KCR has already turbo-charged his campaign for the Assembly elections. He is working overtime, addressing election rallies almost every day across the state.
Meanwhile, the entire BRS machinery is in the midst of reaching out to people in several modes — organising village-level and mandal-level meetings and election rallies where important leaders wash the dirty linen of the Congress and narrate what the BRS would do if it comes to power.
