Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, accompanied by his wife Sobha and grandson Himanshu, performed special poojas at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Yadadri on Friday, 30 September, and offered 1 kg and 16 tolas — around 1.19 kg in total — of gold to the temple to be used for gold-plating the temple tower (gopuram).
The visit comes in the wake of expectations filling the air that KCR would announce the formation of a new national political party on Vijaya Dasami on 5 October.
The chief minister is expected to visit the Venkateswara Swamy temple at Koanaypalli in the Siddipet mandal before Dasara.
Visiting the Venkateswara Swamy temple is sentimentally important for KCR. He always pays a visit to the temple before he implements any of his political decisions.
The chief minister, who reached Yadadri temple before noon on Friday in a special bus, was received with full temple honours. Ministers G Jagadish Reddy, A Indrakaran Reddy, V Prashant Reddy, and several MPs, MLAs, and MLCs accompanied him.

Later, he reached the temple with his wife Shobha, where he was received with poorna kumbham — a gesture once reserved for kings. Himanshu carried the gold on his head from the streets to the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The value of the gold donated by the chief minister is estimated to be about ₹52.48 lakh.
After his arrival in Yadadri, the chief minister reviewed the progress in the works in the temple with officials in the presidential suite for about three hours.
At present, the construction of Satyanarayana Vrata Mantapam and bus station as well as the modernisation of Gandi Cheruvu are underway.
The chief minister’s visit to the temple was his first after its inauguration on 29 March.
On that day, the chief minister gave a call for donations to the temple, while promising 1 kg and 16 tolas of gold to the temple, which he fulfilled on his visit on Friday.
