Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s government wants to use the police to intimidate students and the youth to obfuscate the facts in the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question paper leak case, said BJP national general secretary and Telangana in-charge Tarun Chugh on Thursday, 16 March.
He said the BJP strongly condemned the arrest of BJYM leaders who were protesting in front of the TSPSC headquarters in Nampally in Hyderabad.
He also demanded justice for the scores of TSPSC aspirants, who he said felt betrayed due to the sheer negligence of the state government.
“If KCR thinks he will be able to affect the morale of the BJYM workers by confining them within the four walls of the prison, he is — sadly — mistaken. The dedicated workers of the party will fight with renewed vigour to uncover the truth in the TSPSC leak scam,” Chugh said.
He strongly condemned the Thursday lathi charge against Osmania University students who wanted to take out a peaceful march demanding justice.
“It is now clear that the BRS government wants to use the police to intimidate students and the youth to obfuscate the facts in the case,” he said.
“Employment in combined Andhra Pradesh was one of the critical factors in the separate Telangana movement. Students and the youth were vanguards of the movement in the hopes that they would find jobs. After dodging the core issue of jobs for eight years, the Telangana government issued a notification for a few jobs, leaving the majority pending,” claimed Chugh.
Scores of unemployed people, who have been waiting for a long time, started their preparation by burning the midnight oil, said the BJP leader, adding that the revelation of the TSPSC paper leak gave a rude jolt to their hopes and aspirations.
“Today, they are reeling under frustration and demanding justice, even as the police unleashed brutality against them,” Chugh said.
Chugh said that Chandrashekar Rao’s lackadaisical attitude towards every issue was responsible for the current crisis.
“If there is any person responsible for the current crisis, it is Chandrashekar Rao. By putting behind bars those who are demanding justice on the spot, he is trying to shield the real culprits,” he said.
To date, Chandrashekar Rao hasn’t opened his mouth about the scam, Chugh said, going on to ask, “If he has nothing to hide, why this silence, and to protect whom?”
Chugh claimed that the all-pervasive anger of the students and the youth of Telangana was going to engulf the government.
The BJP would stand by the students and the youth of Telangana and once again demand a probe by a sitting high court judge into the entire episode till such time that the TSPSC was placed under the supervision of a judge for the rest of the course of action, he said.
Meanwhile, Telangana BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar met the arrested BJYM leaders at Chanchalguda prison and expressed solidarity with them.
Talking to reporters outside Chanchalguda prison, Sanjay demanded that the state government order a judicial probe into the case.
