In a breakthrough, Rajendranagar Police, along with the Special Operations Team (SOT) of Rajendranagar Zone, intercepted an interstate drug trafficking gang and seized nearly 108 kg of ganja. Based on credible intelligence, police intercepted two vehicles near Exit No. 17 of the ORR toll on July 10, 2025, and arrested six accused — five men and one woman — all hailing from Pune, Maharashtra.

The search revealed 30 packets weighing 60 kg in a Maruti Swift and 48 kg in a Maruti Ignis. Investigations revealed that the accused procured the contraband from Pawan Deep alias Jeevan of Odisha and were transporting it to Pune via Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Suryapet, and Hyderabad.

Four of the arrested have prior criminal records, including cases under the NDPS Act and serious IPC charges. The operation also led to the seizure of two vehicles, six mobile phones, and ₹9,700 in cash.

DCP Ch. Srinivas, IPS, lauded the teams for their swift and coordinated action. Citizens are urged to report drug-related activities via 1908 or 87126 71111.
