I-T department searches Exel Rubber in Hyderabad, seizes documents

Inspections were conducted at Bachupally, Chandanagar and Gachibowli, along with over a dozen places in the city and its suburbs.

Sleuths of the Income Tax (I-T) department carried out searches at the office and other premises belonging to Exel Rubber Private Limited in Hyderabad and its suburbs in connection with alleged tax violations on Wednesday, 4 January.

Accompanied by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, separate I-T teams comprising over 60 officials swooped down at the company’s properties in 40 SUVs early in the morning and conducted searches.

The teams seized documents and hard disks to examine them in detail.

The raids were conducted at Bachupally, Chandanagar and Gachibowli along with over a dozen places in the city and its suburbs. One I-T team conducted searches at the company’s corporate office in Gachibowli and the residential premises of the company’s chairman and CEO, and directors.

The I-T sleuths raided the company’s four places each in Bachupally and Sangareddy, half a dozen places in Narsingi apart from the company’s other office in Madhapur.

The company is into infra, information technology, engineering and healthcare. The raids that started around 6 am continued till late evening.

A few weeks ago, the I-T department cracked the whip on a few real-estate companies and other infra companies operating from Hyderabad and seized crucial documents. They also raided the educational institutions and other properties of Labour Minister Ch Malla Reddy a few weeks ago.
