Karachi Bakery has been serving the people of Hyderabad for over six decades with their lip-smacking delicacies and helping them subside their sugar cravings.
It has been a go-to place for people seeking authentic Hyderabadi sweets, from the time of its inception in 1953. The bakery has garnered a lot of recognition — national and international.
The most recent among them is accorded by Croatia-based online travel and food guide TasteAtlas.
‘Most legendary dessert place’
The portal has ranked Karachi Bakery 29th in the 150 most legendary dessert places in the world, which features 10 eateries from India. It is the only one from South India to feature in the list.
TasteAtlas has ranked the fruit biscuits of Karachi Bakery as the 29th best iconic dessert, in their list.
“Karachi Bakery’s fruit biscuits hold a special place as a signature product,” TasteAtlas wrote in its feature.
“These biscuits are delicately flavoured and filled with candied fruit. They offer a unique blend of sweetness and crunch. Locals and tourists alike flock to Karachi Bakery to buy these biscuits, often packed in beautifully designed tins, making them a popular gift item as well,” it added.
The announcement called for much cheer at Karachi Bakery. “This news is thrilling and exciting. It’s a feeling of pride to get this recognition for us, the people of India and Hyderabad. Our product is handmade and takes a lot of labour effort,” Vijay Ramnani, managing partner at Karachi Bakery, told South First.
The iconic fruit biscuit is the bakery’s iconic product, said Ramnani. “It was founded by my grandfather Khanchand Ramnani and my father. The fruit biscuit, which is made of tooty-fruity, papaya, crunchy and nutty, has a unique flavour, is tasty and healthy.”
The world-renowned bakery, which has more than 30 outlets in India, exports to over 20 countries. “We will be expanding more stores in future,” he shared.
