Half a dozen G-20 working group meetings will be held in Hyderabad from 28 January to 17 June under the aegis of various ministries, said Telangana Director-General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar on Tuesday, 17 January.
He said the G-20 Security Coordination Committee has decided to work for the successful conduct of the most prestigious G-20 working group meetings to be organised in Hyderabad.
A decision to this effect was taken at the G-20 security coordination meeting held on Tuesday morning at the DGP’s office under his chairmanship.
Senior police officers of the state, along with officials from the Airport Authority of India (AAI), Regional Passport Office, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Security Guard (NSG), and other security related departments attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Anjani Kumar said 215 working group meetings were being held in 56 cities of the country ahead of this summit.
As part of this, six meetings will be organised in Hyderabad. While the first meeting will be conducted on 28 January, working group meetings will be organised on 6, 7 March, 26, 27, 28 April, and 7, 8, 9,15, 16 and 17 June, under the auspices of various ministries.
The prestigious meeting of the heads of the G-20 , with members of 29 countries that account for 85 percent of the world’s GDP, 75 percent of global trade and two-thirds the world population, will be held in September under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said ministers, secretaries, joint secretary-level officials and representatives of voluntary organisations will attend these meetings. Anjani Kumar said the coordination between various security departments was necessary to conduct these meetings smoothly and without any security problems.

As high-ranking delegates attending these meetings will also have the opportunity to visit popular tourist areas in the city, it has been suggested that extensive security measures be taken in those areas.
For effective coordination in this regard, internal WhatsApp groups should be formed and information should be provided from time to time.
Police commissioners of Hyderabad and Cyberabad have been ordered to make extensive arrangements mainly at the airport, hotels where the delegates stay and meeting areas.
He said special control rooms should be set up in the city along with the airport.
