Synopsis: On 25 April, Hyderabad’s Necklace Road hosted a solemn candlelight march led by CM Revanth Reddy to honour victims of the Pahalgam Terror Attack. Joined by Telangana ministers, AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi, and foreign delegates from the Bharat Summit 2025, the event called for national unity. CM urged strong action and support for victims.
The evening skies of Hyderabad’s bustling Necklace Road turned Sombre on the night of Friday, 25 April. As the evening dawned, the regular tourist folk were replaced by a plethora of Hyderabadis and foreigners alike, all to pay respects to the victims of the Pahalgam Terror Attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
The candlelight event led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy began at People’s Plaza and concluded at the Indira Gandhi Statue. Candles and phone torches in hand, he was joined by the Telangana Cabinet, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, and numerous foreign delegates from the Bharat Summit 2025.
Taking place on Friday and Saturday, 25 and 26 April at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), the Bharat Summit 2025, hailed to be the largest congregation of progressive parties, aims to discuss justice, pluralism, and global progressive cooperation.

“This candlelight event being organised by the Congress at the Necklace Road, including foreign dignitaries, should serve as a warning to terrorists,” the chief minister said.
Referring to the Sino-Indian War and the Indo-Pak War, he recalled, “Indira Gandhi responded to violence unabashedly.”
“I request the Prime Minister to give a befitting reply to this heinous attack,” he stated, demanding that the government take measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Praying for the peace of the victim’s souls, he deemed the incident as one of great sorrow. “We must all condemn this murder of our fellow Indians,” he called upon the people. “The incident occurred when India was en route to development. Such incidents call for the unity of all Indians across party and ideological lines,” he continued.
“The family of the person who lost his grandmother and father to terrorism, and all of us will help the victims and the country,” he said, referring to Rahul Gandhi and expressing solidarity.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi postponed his Hyderabad visit in the wake of the Pahalgam attack. He was initially scheduled to speak at the opening of Bharat Summit 2025 on 25 April. However, he is now set to attend the closing alongside Priyanka Gandhi on 26 April.
