Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police busts interstate gang; 3 arrested

According to the Rachakonda Police, the mastermind of the interstate gang of thieves is a juvenile from Rajasthan.

The Rachakonda Police in the early hours of Saturday, 13 August, claimed to have busted an interstate gang of thieves and arrested three persons from the Ghatkesar Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad, recovering gold and silver ornaments worth ₹23 lakh in the process.

The police seized 19.4 tolas of gold and 954 tolas of silver ornaments, a Renault Kwid car, four mobile phones, and around ₹3.90 lakh cash from the arrested.

“One of the three arrested is a juvenile,” a senior officer deployed with the Rachakonda Police told South First.

The arrested adults have been identified as Balwant Choudhary and Ramnivas, both 21 years old and residents of Rajasthan.

The arrested have been booked under IPC Sections 454 (punishment house trespass to commit an offence) and 380 (theft committed in a house).

“Raids are being conducted to nab the fourth accused involved in the crime,” the officer added.

“The accused will be produced and judicial remand of a minimum of 14 days will be sought,” the officer added.

According to the cops, the arrested on 8 August broke into the house of one Mohanlal Choudhary at Boduppal in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

The officer added that the arrested juvenile worked at Mohanlal’s hardware shop. He was hired by the victim around 20 days ago.

“The juvenile is the mastsermind of the crime. He contacted his friends in Rajasthan to carry out the crime and promised them an equal distribution of the loot after he conducted a recce of Mohanlal’s properties,” the officer explained.

“The four broke into Mohanlal’s house on 8 August. The robbery came to light after Mohanlal’s wife returned home the same evening and found the bedroom almirah broken,” he added.

The victims in their complaint mentioned that thieves broke into their house and stole ₹7.5 lakh in cash, and that 20.5 tolas of gold ornaments and 2.5 kg tolas of silver ornaments were missing.
