Synopsis: A family of expatriates, originally from Hyderabad, Telangana, died in a fatal car crash in Missouri, United States, on Sunday while returning home to Dallas from a visit to Atlanta. The victims – Bejigam Srivenkat, his wife Cholleti Tejaswini, and their two children – were killed when a mini truck collided head-on with their SUV, which caught fire on impact. Authorities are employing forensic methods to confirm their identities before repatriating the remains, with support from the Indian Consulate.

A family of four, originally from Telangana’s Hyderabad, died in a devastating car crash in Greene County, Missouri, United States.

Bejigam Srivenkat (40), his wife Cholleti Tejaswini (36), and their two children, Siddhartha (9) and Mruda (7), were killed on Sunday, July 6, when a mini truck travelling in the opposite direction collided head-on with the family’s SUV, while they were returning home to Dallas after visiting relatives in Atlanta.

The family had been residing in the Sutton Fields subdivision of Aubrey, near Dallas, for the past few years. Srivenkat, who grew up in Jupiter Colony in Tirumalgiri, and Tejaswini, who lived on NCL North Avenue in Kompally Municipality, were both software engineers.

The couple married in 2013. Srivenkat moved to the US three and a half years ago after securing a job in Dallas, and was later joined by his wife, children, and eventually his parents.

The impact caused the SUV to catch fire, with the blaze so severe that the bodies of all four were burnt beyond recognition. Emergency responders were only able to retrieve bone fragments from the site.

Due to the extent of the burns, US authorities have initiated detailed forensic procedures – including DNA analysis and dental record verification – to confirm the identities of the victims before releasing their remains to the family.

Local law enforcement and US federal agencies are coordinating with the Indian Consulate to facilitate the repatriation of the remains to Hyderabad.
