Hyderabad drug party: BRS issues show cause notice to former MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy
According to the notice, failure to submit a satisfactory explanation within the stipulated time will result in disciplinary action against Rohit Reddy in accordance with the party's constitution.

Synopsis: The BRS issued a show cause notice to former MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy following his arrest from his farmhouse on the outskirts of Hyderabad over allegedly organising a drug party and testing positive for drug consumption. The party has sought a written response from Rohit Reddy and barred him from attending party activities and official programmes.
The BRS in Telangana on Tuesday, 17 March, issued a show cause notice to former MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy following his arrest from his farmhouse on the outskirts of Hyderabad over allegedly organising a drug party and testing positive for drug consumption.
In a notice, citing news reports and other sources, the party said he attended a gathering on the outskirts of Hyderabad, where alleged drug consumption took place.
“The matter has come to the attention of the party leadership and has been widely reported in the media, raising concerns among the public and affecting the party’s image,” BRS General Secretary Soma Bharat Kumar said in the notice.
The party has sought a written response from Rohit Reddy and barred him from attending party activities and official programmes.
The BRS said it is committed to upholding legal norms, maintaining ethical standards, and strictly opposing illegal activities, including drug use or association with such acts.
“The allegations regarding your presence and possible involvement are viewed as serious and damaging to the party’s reputation. As per the directions of party president K Chandrashekar Rao, you are instructed to submit a clear and detailed written explanation regarding the allegations within seven days from the date of receipt of this notice,” Bharat Kumar said in the notice.

Telangana Police had seized 0.26 grams of cocaine, a .32 calibre revolver and large quantities of liquor, including beer, whisky and vodka of various premium brands, during a raid on a party at a farmhouse belonging to Rohith Reddy on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Saturday night.
Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar Yadav and Rohith Reddy were among 11 people detained during the raid on suspicion of consuming narcotics. Both Yadav and Reddy, along with four others, tested positive for drugs. Yadav was later granted station bail in connection with the case.
