The Counter Intelligence (CI) Cell of the Telangana Intelligence Department, in coordination with Madhya Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), detained two more people from Old City for allegedly maintaining links with Hizb-Ut-Tahrir (HUT) radical outfit.
The two people were picked up in the Baba Nagar and Chandrayangutta areas of Hyderabad.
So far, the police have detained seven people from Telangana.
With this, the total number of people picked by the police in Telangana and Madhya Pradesh has gone up to 19.
Meanwhile, the police took into custody five people who were previously arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police in Hyderabad on 9 May.
Among the arrested people from Hyderabad, Saleem, a native of Madhya Pradesh, was working as the head of the department in a college in the city, while Rahaman from Odisha was a cloud service engineer, and Junaid was working as a dentist.
Two other people, Abbas Ali and Hameed, were working as auto-rickshaw driver and daily-wage labourer, respectively.
The five people were picked up from different parts of the city. The police seized electronic devices, literature, mobile phones, and other articles from them.
All five people were allegedly maintaining links with the radical outfit for the last 18 months, sources added.
