Hyderabad: 15 workers of Karachi Bakery injured in blaze; 5 critical

Most of the workers hailed from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. They lit the fire without unaware of the gas leak.

A suspected cooking gas leak sparked a blaze at a baking unit of the popular Karachi Bakery at Gaganpahad, injuring 15 workers around 10 am on Thursday, 14 December.

Five of them sustained serious burns, the police said. Most workers were from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.

The police identified the injured workers as Balaram (25), Subham Prajapathi (19), Aditya Kumar (19), Sandeep Prajapathi (27), Deepak Sukla (18), Amresh Kumar (20), Mukesh Kumar (28), Dara Singh (37), Sonu Singh (30), Kamal Kishore (24), Pramodh Kumar (23), Sujith Kumar (19), Sandeep Kuma (25), Sunny (20), and Pradeep (27).

The Shamshabad police said the workers lit a fire unaware of the gas leak.

Revanth Reddy expresses shock

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed shock over the fire incident. He directed the officials concerned to ensure adequate medical treatment for the 15 workers.

Apparao, a sub-inspector at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Police Station, said five among the 15 were admitted to the hospital in a critical condition.

Eight of the 15 were shifted to the Kanchan Bagh DRDO Hospital.
