Telangana assembly election BJP manifesto

Stoutly defending the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that it was meant to give citizenship to the minorities who are facing persecution in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

“The CAA and the rules notified by the Modi Government on Monday, 11 March, are meant for giving citizenship and not to take it away from anyone,” Shah said, addressing BJP polling booth committees’ members at the LB Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday, 12 March.

The Union Home Minister went for Congress’ jugular for opposing the CAA.

Congress, AIMIM playing vote bank politics

“The Congress, the AIMIM and other parties are opposing it because they want to make political capital out of it. Their opposition is only playing vote bank politics,” he said.

Shah wondered whether the country should not help and respect the minorities, who are being persecuted and who are languishing in the neighbouring countries by giving them citizenship.

The Opposition parties had misunderstood the spirit and intent of the CAA. “It is not meant to remove citizenship of any minorities in the country,” he said.

The BJP leader came down like a ton of bricks on the India bloc constituents, who formed an alliance to perpetuate dynasty politics. All those in the India Bloc want political power to transfer to their scions or close relatives.

“Sonia Gandhi wants Rahul to become the prime minister. Mamata wants her bhatheeja to succeed her. Sharad Pawar wants Supriya Sule to become the chief minister. Uddhav Thackeray wants Aditya to step into his shoes. Even KCR wanted his son KTR to become the chief minister of Telangana,” he said, adding that the BRS was not part of India bloc.

‘BJP government’s bold decisions’

Amit Shah listed out the ‘bold decisions’ that the BJP government had taken over the last few years including the abolition of triple talaq.

“The BJP government wanted to treat Muslim women with respect and that was why it had annulled Triple Talaq. But the Congress and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi had opposed it for the fear of losing their vote bank,” he said.

He also highlighted how PM Modi remained determined to teach a lesson to the terrorists who resorted to outrages at Pulwama and Uri. In the past, when the Congress was in power, terrorists used to cross the border freely and set off bombs on our soil.

“After Narendra Modi took over they had thought they could continue with their terrorist activity. They probably had thought we too would be like the Congress rulers, meek and inefficient and engineered pogroms at Uri and Pulwama. Within 10 days, Modi organised surgical strikes. Our forces forced their way inside the bastions of the terrorists and liquidated them,” Shah said.

He also recalled how Modi redeemed the promise of building a temple for Lord Ram at Ayodhya.

“It was the dream coming true for the people of the country. They had waited for 500 years. It was inaugurated on 22 January, fulfilling their long-awaited wish,” he said.

Congress, BRS and AIMIM steeped in corruption

Earlier, the Union Home Minister, speaking at a meeting of social media warriors at the Imperial Gardens in Secunderabad, labelled the Congress, the BRS and the AIMIM as dynasty parties, steeped in corruption.

The BJP leader said that the Congress and the BRS always worked to help the AIMIM further its agenda.

“The Congress and the BRS were involved in scams of thousands of crores but Prime Minister Narendra Modi, even after 10 year of uninterrupted rule, remained immaculate and unblemished. No one could point a finger at him,” he said.

The Union Minister called upon the social media warriors to take the message of the BJP into each and every household and ensure that of the 400 plus seats that the BJP would win, more than 12 seats should be from Telangana.

Exuding confidence that the BJP was destined to romp home for the third time, he said that the people were anxious to see Narendra Modi score a hattrick. He said he had travelled far and wide across the country and found that all sections of society want Modi back as the prime minister.

“The aim of the BJP government is to usher in a county which is completely free from corruption,” Shah said.

The Union Minister expressed confidence that Narendra Modi would make the country the third largest economy in the world if it returns to power for the third time.

He said the country was moving on the fast track to development and recalled the historic decisions the BJP dispensation had taken during the last 10 years.
