Synopsis: Heavy rains and strong winds lashed Hyderabad and parts of Telangana on 11–12 June, with Serilingampally recording 148.5 mm rainfall. Waterlogging disrupted traffic in areas like Nallagandla and Lingampally. Cyberabad Police issued route advisories, and IMD forecast more rain with gusty winds and hazy mornings. Citizens shared videos of flooding, while authorities remain on alert for further disruptions.
Heavy rains, accompanied by strong winds lashed many parts of Hyderabad and Telangana, on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, 11 and 12 June.
Serilingampally Mandal of Rangareddy district recorded the highest rainfall last night, 148.5 mm at the University of Hyderabad.
While in the state, Devarakonda Mandal in Nalgonda District recorded second highest at 91 mm, followed by Telkapalle Mandal in Nagarkurnool District at 86 mm.
Suryapet, Khammam, Mahabubabad, and Bhadradri districts also have received heavy rains.
Telangana Weatherman, a reputed local source reacted to last nights rain stating: “A Hyperlocal HISTORIC CLOUBURST pounded West HYD.”

Citizens took to the internet to post various videos of waterlogging at various places including: Nallagandla, Tellapur, Nanakramguda, Kokapet, smong others.
Following the inundation of roads due to rains, the Cyberabad Traffic Police issued advisories for two routes: Near Serilingampally Revenue Office towards BHEL and Gachibowli, and RUB Lingampally and Doyens Colony .
The authority wrote on X: “Traffic movement is slow at RUB Lingampally and Doyens Colony due to water logging. RC Puram Traffic Police are on-site and working to clear the traffic congestion. We request all commuters to cooperate with the Traffic Police and plan alternate routes if possible.”

For Thursday, the Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad forecast a generally cloudy sky for the city.
“Light to Moderate Rain or Thundershowers at times intense spells accompanied with gusty winds (40+50 kmph) very likely to occur in the city towards the evening/ night. Hazy conditions are very likely to prevail during morning hours. Maximum and Minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31 and 23 degrees Celsius,” it predicted. This puts Hyderabad on Yellow Alert.
The IMD further expects water pooling on the roads and low-lying areas, traffic congestion, wet and slippery roads, electricity and water disturbances, and drainage clogging
The weather department suggested restricted movement and advisory issuance from authorities, while predicting light to moderate rain and thundershowers in the GHMC area in the morning hours of Thursday.
