‘Greasy, slippery and dingy’

At Sri Ganesh Khara and Feni, officials found food articles exposed to dust and flies, poor personal hygiene among food handlers and a washroom close to the manufacturing area, which TG SAFE said posed a contamination risk. The manufacturing area was “greasy, slippery and unhygienic”, while officials also flagged improper documentation and storage practices.

At JP Foods in Imam Pura, officials observed chewing and spitting of gutka or pan masala. The unit had an unhygienic manufacturing area, housefly infestation and inadequate mandatory records. TG SAFE also reported the “repeated use of Oil/Dalda Vanaspathi for frying”.

At Prem Puri Sweet Phani Shop, the authority found that the establishment had obtained an FSSAI licence under the retailer category despite being involved in manufacturing activity. Officials also reported gutka and pan masala chewing and spitting, an unhygienic manufacturing area, inadequate mandatory documentation and poor personal hygiene among food handlers.

At Mahaveer Namkeen, inspectors found “patchy, greasy and slippery flooring”. Stoves and utensils were described as very unhygienic. The authority also reported dirt and soot deposits on walls and ceilings, oil dripping from surfaces and pests, including lizards.

At GM Mixture in Attapur, the inspection team found “extremely unhygienic premises”, with dirty and greasy walls, greasy flooring and inadequate lighting. Officials also reported open drains, improper storage practices and failure to maintain mandatory records.

The inspections found food articles contaminated with extraneous matter, including gutka and pan masala packets, at some establishments. The affected food articles were discarded on the spot.
