Telangana Information Technology Minister KT Rama Rao on Friday, 4 August, said that if the IT sector was growing in Hyderabad by leaps and bounds, it was because of a stable government and able leadership.
Replying to queries from members in the Telangana Assembly during the Question Hour, he said, “In Telangana, there are no communal tensions or caste prejudices. We have an able leader in Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. In fact, the growth of the IT sector is four times more than the national average.”
KTR said that the first IT tower came up in Hyderabad in Begumpet in 1987 and since then, till the formation of Telangana state in 2014, the total software exports were about ₹56,000 crore. But last year alone, the total software exports were ₹57,707 crore. This was possible because of able leadership.

He said that in 2022-23, software exports registered a blistering growth of 31.4 percent. Several leading IT companies have set up their development centres in Hyderabad.
Since the formation of Telangana, the sector has provided six lakh jobs. The IT industry is now spreading to Tier II cities.
The jobs created in the sector were about 45 percent of the total IT jobs the sector has thrown up in the country.
Later, the government replied to the discussion on rains and the damage caused in the state. Congress members staged a walk-out after the state government deferred a decision on the quantum of relief to be given to the farmers who had suffered heavy crop damage.
Congress members objected when Roads and Buildings Minister V Prashanth Reddy said that the chief minister will decide on the quantum of relief after receiving detailed reports from all districts.
Congress member D Sridhar Babu said that farmers and others, who were affected by the recent rains, were waiting for the government’s help. He said that the Fasal Bima scheme was not being implemented in the state and that the ruling party leaders were speaking lies about the extent of damage done to the state by the rains.
He demanded that the state allot double-bedroom houses to those whose abodes had collapsed in the natural calamity. He reminded the government that 69 lakes had overflown and the state was not taking any preventive measures to lessen the damage done due to the piling up of slush and mud in the fields whenever there were floods.
AIMIM floor leader Akbarduddin Owaisi also demanded immediate help for the victims of the flood. He said that the government, in its statement, has not mentioned how many had died, though the media has put the figure at 42. He wanted the government to collect figures about the damage done by the rains in all the villages.
Minister Prashanth Reddy, replying to the debate, said that the government would surely help the farmers who had suffered crop loss. As the detailed estimates are yet to arrive, there was a delay in taking a decision.
He said that damage due to rains in the twin cities had reduced after Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao took up the Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP) by widening the nalas.
He said that in the state, 419 houses had collapsed, while 7,500 were partially damaged. He added that those whose houses were destroyed would be helped under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme and regardless of whether the Centre helps or not, the state is always ready to help out those who are in distress.
Intervening in the discussion, KTR expressed his annoyance with Sridhar Babu for not basing his arguments about flood damage on facts. He said that Sridhar Babu was misleading the House regarding the damage done to the state by the floods.
He advised him against speaking without any basis. If water-logging continues in paddy fields, there might not be much damage but in the case of soya and cotton, the damage would be severe and widespread. He said that Sridhar Babu was making sweeping statements to lower the image of the government.
He said the Congress leaders were yet to recover from the shock of the blow dealt by KCR with his announcement of the resumption of the ₹1 lakh crop loan waiver programme.
He said that the Congress leaders who had said that three hours of power supply was enough for the farm sector had no right to speak on their behalf.

He said it appears the Congress leaders were intent on reducing power supply duration to three hours after playing havoc with the lives of the farmers by supplying not more than six hours in the past.
The TPCC president had said that there was no question of 24-hour power supply, KTR recalled, jeering at the Congress members.
KTR said the TPCC president had the audacity to say that the Congress would scrap the Dharani portal, which would only lead to ushering in the middlemen system once again.

He said the Congress members put forth the demand at the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting that the Assembly should run for 30 days, but they have no patience to sit in the House even for 30 minutes.
The BJP wanted the House to run for 30 days and the Congress for 20 days, but when the discussion on the floods and the rains was in progress, the two parties had only one member each in the House.
