Responding to an incident of a communal clash in the Chengicherla area in Hyderabad recently, BJP leader and Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh on Thursday, 28 March, said that Hindus were being attacked in Telangana.

He also warned the police of repercussions if they did not withdraw the cases filed against Hindus following the incident.

“A group of people who were celebrating Holi with music in the area was attacked by some people who came from a masjid,” said Raja Singh in a video statement.

The incident

Mild tension prevailed in the area on the evening of Sunday, after a scuffle broke out between the two groups, in which four persons suffered minor injuries even as police dispersed the groups.

According to police, a group of people used loudspeakers near the mosque place and played songs during pre-Holi celebrations on Sunday.

Following this, the people attending prayers inside the mosque objected to it and asked them to lower the volume (of the loudspeakers).

This led to arguments between them and both groups including women attacked each other.

The Medipally police registered cases in this regard, under Sections 147, 148, and 324 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
