After a long time, BRS working president and MLA KTR (K Tarak Rama Rao) was live on X with his AskKTR session for one and a half hours on Deepavali— Thursday, 30 October, interacting with people of all sections of society, giving a sneak peek into what is going on in his and his father’s mind, in taking the BRS forward.

The former IT and Industries minister also responded positively to requests to take out a padayatra to learn people’s problems firsthand and take the government to the cleaners.

The Sircilla MLA gave enough indications that KCR was very active, waiting for the opportune time to tear the Congress to shreds. KTR said hopefully in 2025, KCR would be leading the party from the front as by then the people would also know the impact of the failure of the Congress government in delivering on its “six guarantees” and “420 promises.”

When one Azeem M asked whether he was planning to go on an extensive padayatra across the state, especially in constituencies where the BRS lost, to know why there was a miss, he said: “Since you all seem keen, let me work on strengthening myself.”

‘KCR is perfectly fine’

To a query by one Krishna Bhakt on why KCR was not making public appearances and not expressing his views on contemporary issues in the state and whether he is keeping good health, KTR said: “He is perfectly fine and very healthy and has been guiding all of us every day. As a responsible opposition leader, he is giving the government enough time to deliver on its 420 promises. You will probably see a lot more of him in 2025 and beyond.”

To a query by one Mubashir Khurram on BRS’s stand on the One Nation One Election and why the centre was hasty about implementing it, KTR said: No one knows if they are serious about it or if it is just another jhumla. Let’s wait to see if they bring legislation. In my personal opinion, it’s impractical.”

‘By-elections inevitable in 10 constituencies’

Answering another query, he said by-elections are inevitable in the 10 Assembly constituencies where BRS MLAs had defected.

He agreed with another social media activist that the BRS lagged in ensuring good publicity for the work KCR had done compared to the Congress which have become experts in PR stunts.

When one X user G Arpita asked him what his source of strength is and the three best books that he recommends to the youth, he replied: “My self-belief, support of BRS family and my own family and friends.” As regards books, he suggested The Fountainhead, Fallen Leaves and The Secret.”

To the question of whether it was on the side of the TDP or the YSRCP in AP, KTR seems to have forgotten the bitter rivalry the BRS had with Chandrababu Naidu. He said: “We have a good personal equation with the top leadership of both TDP and the YSRCP. We might differ on issues, but broadly speaking, we have nothing personal against anyone per se.”

‘From, to and for Delhi’

Using incisive words laced with sarcasm, the BRS leader rent the Congress asunder, calling its leaders a bunch of jokers who hoodwinked Telangana and their rule was more like “from Delhi, to Delhi and for Delhi.” He extended his best wishes to Tamil superstar Vijay who launched his political party.

When a Twitterati asked him about a subject that is close to his heart— AI, automation and digital transformation— he said that new trends in technology are an opportunity. “Many new avenues will open up. This ain’t the first and last technology advancement in evolution.”

The BRS leader was non-committal when one Gaddam Vikram asked him whether “Chitti Naidu” (KTR calls Revanth Reddy by this name) be able to implement the six promises and whether he would be in office for his full term of five years or whether he would join the BJP to get out of the “vote for note” case. KTR said: “Let’s wait and watch brother. Politics is a dynamic field, and Congress is an unpredictable machine.”

‘HYDRAA a blackmailing tool’

As regards HYDRAA, KTR said it was a blackmailing tool to extract money from builders and businessmen. HYDRAA has been selective in targeting poor and middle-class people but has no action on the rich and the mighty.

He considered Maharaja of Sethupathi a terrific film when Twitterati asked him whether he was watching movies, and which one had appealed to him most.

When one Rounak Pada asked him whether Amaravati would be a threat to Hyderabad and tier II cities in the IT sector, he said: Chandrababu Naidu is an ambitious leader but Hyderabad is in an orbit of its own. We have beaten Bengaluru in terms of IT growth rate in the past. But with Congress in Telangana not sure what’s ahead.

Asked for his reaction to the Congress government targeting his family, he said: “Personally I find it very difficult to understand why our families are dragged into politics of vendetta. Never did that when we were in government. In the last 18 years of being in public life and when my family and kids were humiliated, many times I had thought of quitting but decided to stay and fight.”

He said had the BRS won the Assembly elections, it would have been a different story altogether in Parliament elections and Maharashtra too. He said the BRS was now focusing more on its home state and winning back here in Telangana.
