Foxconn — arguably the world’s largest electronics manufacturer, which is also called the Hon Hai Technology Group — is expected to soon set up an electronics manufacturing facility in Hyderabad.
This was announced by Foxconn Chairman and CEO Young Liu after signing an agreement with the Telangana government for the proposed facility in the presence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at Pragati Bhavan on Thursday, 2 February.
The Foxconn unit will reportedly help generate large-scale employment for the youth, and help in attracting more such industries to the state, said KCR.
KCR and Liu discussed the importance of diversifying electronics manufacturing for a resilient supply chain and the pivotal role to be played by the state government.
The chief minister said that Foxconn’s investment and the opportunity to create more than 1 lakh jobs in Telangana was commendable.

He also assured Liu that Telangana would provide all kinds of support to Foxconn for its operations in the state.
On the occasion, Telangana Industries and IT Minister KT Rama Rao expressed happiness that the proposed unit had the potential to provide employment to over 1 lakh people.
Speaking to reporters, Liu said his company was looking at sites and was currently evaluating the kind of products to be made in Telangana.
The amount of investment depends on the products they plan to make.
Young Liu, along with KTR, inaugurated T-Works, a state-of-the-art prototyping facility.
“T-Works has developed significant products, including ventilators, electric vehicles, and agricultural innovation in collaboration with rural innovators using state-of-the-art equipment,” said KTR on the occasion.
The minister also said: “With India’s software prowess and Taiwan’s hardware expertise, we can lead an industrial revolution and enable youngsters to come out with world-class products.”
Liu said, “T-Works as a concept is incredible. With such a facility, people can do so many things. I am impressed by the speed with which this world-class facility has been built.”
Phase 1 of the 78,000-square-foot facility is located on a 4.79-acre campus providing over 200 industry-grade tools worth ₹11.5 crore. This is expected to grow 10 times over the next 12 months.
