Telangana Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari on Tuesday, 9 January, reviewed preparations for the conduct of Wings India 2024 at Begumpet Airport from 18 to 21 January.
The coordination meeting was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, those of FICCI and the state government.
The chief secretary said that arrangements had to be foolproof as the event was being conducted on a bigger scale this year.
The event is expected to witness the display of new-generation aircraft from various manufacturers, allied aviation services, auxiliary units, industries, and tourism sectors.
It will also apparently see the participation of high-level dignitaries from the governments of other states and various countries.
The key areas that need to be focussed on would be making adequate parking arrangements and ensuring seamless traffic movement during the event.
She instructed the police officials to identify alternative sites for parking as it was estimated that more than 1 lakh persons would be coming during the last two days.
Further, she directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to take proper sanitation measures and ensure that garbage collection was scaled up during the event.
Necessary advisories should also be issued to the general public in the vicinity to avoid throwing garbage on the roads.
They should also be advised not to fly kites around the airport area from 16 January — two days before the event — as it could be a hindrance to the international aircraft coming for display during the event.
Ministry of Civil Aviation Joint Secretary Asangba Chuba Ao stated that the biennial event was a good opportunity for the state government to showcase its developmental activities.
Events related to travel, tourism, startups, and skill development, apart from career and job opportunities in the aviation sector, would also be held as part of Wings India 2024, he added.
R&B Department Principal Secretary Srinivas Raju, GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose, FICCI Director Manoj, Aviation Director Bharat Reddy, Begumpet Airport Director PK Hajari, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
