Former Sarpanch's 'suicide note' - shared by BRS - leaders alleges harassment by CM's brother
On Friday, 22 November, 85-year-old P Sai Reddy died by suicide in Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district. The octogenarian served as the Sarpanch of Kondareddypalli village in Vangoor Mandal twice.
Taking to X, BRS leader Harish Rao shared a suicide note purportedly penned by Sai Reddy, which claims that CM Revanth Reddy’s brother was the reason behind his suicide.
The ‘suicide note’ accuses Telangana CM’s brother (though it doesn’t mention anyone’s name) of blocking the route to the former sarpanch’s 40-year-old house in the village.
Condemning the CM and Congress government in the state, BRS leaders Harish Rao and KTR have demanded registering a police case and investigating the allegations.
The son of the former Sarpanch of Kondareddypalli, P Ranga Reddy, P Sai Reddy was elected to power twice.
“I built my house 40 years ago,and then I paid from my own pocket to lay a passage to connect the house to the rest of the village,” the alleged suicide no read.
“CM Revanth Reddy’s brother is harassing me over wanting to build a veterinary hospital near my house. They are building a wall on the route I built to connect to my house. I never imagined I would be blocked off from the village,” the letter claims.
The letter emphasises that Sai Reddy didn’t belong to any political party except that of God’s.
While the authenticity of the letter is yet to be confirmed, the person has penned that Sai Reddy took the extreme step due to the continuous harassment over construction of the hospital.
The former sarpanch died near an auto stand at Kalwakurthy reportedly after consuming pesticides.
Speaking to the media, a couple of villagers asserted that Sai Reddy was under duress due to the wall being built near his house. “He took this step in haste, nobody knows what happened,” said one of the villagers.
BRS working president claimed that Sai Reddy campaigned for the CM During 2023 Assembly elections.
Speaking at a press conference, the BRS leader charged, “This same Sai Reddy campaigned for Revanth Reddy during the elections and got him votes. Now his corpse lay at Kalwakurthy. Is it fine for you to do as you wish just because it is (he is from) your Constituency?” BRS working president KTR asked.
However, there is a lot of ambiguity surrounding the death and alleged reasons behind it.
While there is no veterinary hospital listed in Kondareddypalli, staff from the nearest Kalwakurthy veterinary hospital told South First that a new veterinary hospital had been opened in the village in December last year.
Police officials from the Kalwakurthy Police Station declined to confirm or deny the authenticity of the suicide note. In fact, they did not even confirm whether a case had been registered regarding the suicide.
Meanwhile, the Congress has denied all the allegations. “Setting up the veterinary hospital was well within the government’s rights. In fact, P Sai Reddy also agreed to it,” a Congress source stated confirming that the hospital does exist.
The source refuted claims of harassment to South First and emphasized that the situation seemed to involve agenda-driven manipulation.
South First tried contacting the police to comment on the issue, but they were unavailable.
