Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, former MLA from Narsampet and senior leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), passed away in the early hours of Friday at Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad, where he had been undergoing treatment following a massive pulmonary embolism and cardiac arrest. He is reported to have breathed his last around 1 AM.
The 51-year-old leader’s health took a turn for the worse on the morning of Sunday, July 26, when he suffered a heart attack at his residence in Hanumakonda.
Family members rushed him to Rohini Hospital, where he reportedly needed multiple rounds of CPR to be resuscitated.
Given the severity of his condition, Reddy was later moved via a 150-km green corridor to Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad for advanced care.
Despite the interventions, Reddy’s condition worsened. Doctors said a prolonged disruption in blood flow to the brain caused damage severe enough that recovery efforts proved unsuccessful.
News of his death drew condolences from leaders across political parties.
BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) said he had lost both a close friend and a fellow campaigner from the Telangana statehood movement, recalling their shared activism.
He praised Reddy as a fearless figure who had raised the party’s flag in Narsampet and remained loyal to it through police pressure, non-bailable cases, and jail terms during the movement years. He pledged the party’s continued support to Reddy’s family and local workers.
BRS leaders KTR and Harish Rao also issued statements mourning the loss, describing Reddy as a Telangana movement veteran and close associate whose dedication to the party and to his constituents left a lasting mark on Telangana society.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, in his condolence message, called Reddy’s role in the Telangana movement unforgettable and extended sympathy to his family and well-wishers.
Reddy is survived by his wife and children. His last rites will be conducted at Narsampet on Friday afternoon.
