Tensions arose in the Mailardevpally area of Hyderabad, after an explosion occurred outside the Parja Pathi temple on Laxmiguda road, at around 10:30 AM, on Monday, 18 November.
The incident occurred when Sugunaram, a priest at the temple was cleaning the vegetation outside the temple area. Due to the explosion, the priest has been injured and is under treatment at a private hospital.
Upon receiving the information about the explosion, Mailardevpally police arrived at the place and called in the forensic team and bomb detection squad. Both teams are currently examining the site to determine the cause of the blast.
While a few reports suggested that the priest was seriously injured, the police clarified that he was not in a critical condition and that he didn’t suffer from major injuries.
Speaking to South First, Mailardevpally SI Paidi Nayudu said, “We were not able to determine the reason for the explosion yet. It occurred at about 10 am this morning at Sri Sai Devi Mata Temple on Laxmiguda Road.”
Noting that the injured priest had been serving the temple for six years, the SI said, “Sugunaram, the 60-year-old priest, was digging outside the temple with a spade when the explosion occurred. He is in normal condition and didn’t suffer any major injuries.”
