Dr Jitender appointed as Telangana DGP; Ravi Gupta transferred to home department

Much like South First reported in December last year, the Telangana government on Wednesday, 10 July, appointed Dr Jitender IPS as the Director General Police (DGP) in the state.

Ravi Gupta IPS who held the post of the DGP has been transferred as Special Chief Secretary to the state Home Department.

Jitender, a 1992 batch IPS officer, will also be holding full additional charge of Director General of Police (HoPF), according to the order issued by Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari.

Jitender was posted as home secretary in December 2022. He also held an additional charge of Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement.

Other transfers

The general administration department of the state also made a reshuffle of several IPS officers.

  • Additional Director General of Police Railways and Road Safety Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat IPS (1995) is transferred and posted as Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) replacing Sanjay Kumar Jain IPS (1997).
  • Additional Director General of Police TGSP Battalions Swati Lakra IPS (1995) is transferred and posted as Additional Director General of Police, Organisation and Home Guards replacing M Stephen Raveendra IPS (1999).
  • Additional Director General of Police (Operations), Greyhounds and OCTOPUS Vijay Kumar IPS (1997) is transferred and posted as Additional Director General of Police, Personnel, Telangana, Hyderabad. He is also placed in full additional charge of the post of Additional Director General of Police, Welfare and Sports until further orders.
  • Sanjay Kumar Jain IPS (1997) is posted as Additional Director General of Police, TGSP Battalions replacing Swati Lakra IPS (1995).
  • M Stephen Raveendra IPS (1999) is posted as Additional Director General of Police, Greyhounds replacing Vijay Kumar IPS (1997).
  • Inspector General of Police Multi-Zone-II G Sudheer Babu IPS (2001) is transferred and posted as Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda replacing Dr Tarun Joshi IPS (2004).
  • Dr Tarun Joshi IPS (2004) is posted as Director, Anti-Corruption Bureau.
  • Inspector General of Police (Personnel) S Chandrasekhar Reddy IPS (2004) is transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police, Multi-Zone-I.
  • K Ramesh Naidu IPS (2006), who is waiting for posting, is posted as Inspector General of Police, Railways & Road Safety replacing Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat IPS (1995).
  • CAR Headquarters Joint Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana IPS (2006) is transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police, Multi-Zone-II replacing G Sudheer Babu IPS (2001).
  • Wanaparthy Superintendent of Police Rakshitha K Murthy IPS (2015) is transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, CAR Headquarters replacing V Satyanarayana IPS (2006).
  • Hyderabad South West Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police D Udaykumar Reddy IPS (2016) is transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Medak district replacing B Bala Swamy IPS (2018).
  • Hyderabad East Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police R Giridhar IPS (2017) is transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Wanaparthy replacing Rakshitha K Murthy IPS (2015).
  • B Bala Swamy IPS (2018) is posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, East Zone, Hyderabad replacing R Giridhar IPS (2017).
  • Rachakonda Task Force Superintendent of Police (NC)/Deputy Commissioner of Police G Chandra Mohan is transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, South West Zone, Hyderabad replacing D Udaykumar Reddy IPS (2016).
