Telangana governement flagship project double bedroom houses

The allotment of double-bedroom houses in and around Hyderabad will begin next week, the state government has said.

Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao, during a review at Pragati Bhavan in Hyderabad on Wednesday, 16 August, on the implementation of the promise made by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in his Independence Day address, said that more than 75,000 double-bedroom houses were ready in all respects for allotment.

The double-bedroom housing project is a flagship welfare programme of the state government, which allocated ₹ 11,000 crore in the 2023-24 budget for it.

The minister said 4,500 of these double-bedroom houses had been allotted to the in-situ beneficiaries.

He added that the remaining double-bedroom houses would be distributed in five-six phases. He asked Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials to make necessary preparations for the allotment.

No political interference

The minister ruled out any political interference in the allotment of the double-bedroom houses.

As people were waiting anxiously for the allotment of houses, the government would hasten the process, keeping in view the suggestions that came from ministers, he said.

KTR made it clear that the allotment would be made only by officials, who would conduct ground-level inspections and identify the beneficiaries.

“They are already preparing the list of beneficiaries,” he said, adding that these people would be handed over the keys at their new houses.
