An AI-generated video featuring actors Janhvi Kapoor and Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Jr (Jr NTR) has gone viral on X.
Some users on the platform circulated an AI-modified version of the Chuttamalle song from Telugu film Devara: Part 1 (2024), starring Kapoor and Jr NTR.
The video was doctored to show the actors engaging in sexual acts.
Although the origin of the AI-generated video is unclear, clips from it have been shared widely on X. Several users claimed on X that a link to the full version had been distributed via direct messages.
Janhvi Kapoor said it was “disturbing to see AI-generated fake videos being circulated. Please don’t create, share or promote such content. This is a clear misuse of AI”.
“Legal action will definitely be taken against those involved,” she warned.
Jr NTR also responded strongly to the controversy in a post on X, condemning the video as shameful and degrading. He said that using AI to humiliate a woman goes against a culture that reveres women.
“Disgusting, sick and shameless. In a land that worships women as mothers and goddesses, where “Matrudevo Bhava” is not just a phrase but a part of our culture, some people have fallen so low that they are using AI to disrespect a woman in the most degrading way possible. Using AI to create something this vile is shameful beyond words. To the scumbags behind this morphed Chuttamalle video, I will not spare any of you,” he posted.
Legal action would follow against both the creators of the doctored clip and those circulating it, Jr NTR added.
The actor also urged his fans not to watch, share or engage with the content. He called on the Centre and state governments to bring in strict regulations against the misuse of AI.
This is not the first instance of a sexualised, AI-generated video of a Telugu actress going viral on social media.
Actress Rashmika Mandanna spoke out earlier about a deepfake video made by superimposing her face on an influencer’s body in an Instagram reel.
