Exodus from BRS to Congress resumes but KCR is hopeful

Even as the exodus of the BRS MLAs into the Congress continued unabated, party supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao put on a brave front on Friday, 28 June, saying that exit of a few legislators from the party should not be a cause for concern.

“Why should we worry about those who desert the party and join the band thieves.” he asked referring to Jagtiyal MLA Dr M Sanjay Kumar who switched loyalty in favour of the Congress. Though another BRS MLA – Kale Yadaiah from Chevella – left the party, KCR did not make any comment on him specifically but asked the partymen not to worry much about these developments.

Interacting with party workers and leaders from Kortutla and Jagtiyal at his Erraville Farmhoue in Siddipet, the BRS Leader said desertions are developments of no consequence as the BRS knows how develop leaders. “Leaders would not be able to influence the party. On the other hand, party does,” he said underscoring the point that the party was always bigger than the leaders.

He called upon the leaders to rededicate themselves to the service of the people and rise to the people’s expectations in delivering what they need. KCR said that for the BRS, which had fought with the integrationists of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, dealing with minor blips like MLAs leaving the party should not cause any discomfiture.

If one leaves, 10 more will take birth

“If one leader leaves, 10 more leaders would take birth in the party,” he said.

He said it is only the BRS which understood the soul of Telangana. The BRS knows that there were several milestones it had to cross and exuded confidence that the party would, since it alone knows what the people want and how to deliver it.

KCR’s interaction with the party cadres and leaders from Jagtiyal and Korutla was one in a series of such meetings planned to sensitize them for the task that lay head, fighting on behalf of the people.

He said after people blessed the BRS and elected it to power in the state, it delivered top class administration to the people during the last 10 years. “We have achieved progress in consonance with the objectives of Telangana movement. We have risen beyond the considerations of caste and regions. We created top class infrastructure for the people to benefit from, in the areas of agriculture, irrigation and power supply,” he said.

The BRS chief said that at times, in a democracy, though a party does well, people might support another party, trusting its leaders who promise the moon. “In the recent elections, people were taken for a ride by those who purveyed falsehood and made tall promises. It is not necessary for the party to be in power to serve the people. We have to be in their service whether in power or not. Our ultimate goal is service,” he said.

Earlier in the day he had similar interaction with the leaders and workers from erstwhile Nizamabad district.
