After the new Congress government in Telangana revoked the appointments of seven advisors chosen by the previous BRS dispensation in the state, it rescinded the appointments of 54 chairpersons of corporations and departments.
The move is being seen as another round of political restructuring by the Congress, which came to power earlier this month in Telangana.
Several of the 54 sacked were not MLAs or MLCs but were integral members of the BRS core team.
The orders also nullified the extension of Prof R Limbadri as the chairman of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education, as well as his role as vice-chairman I of the council. Likewise, the extension of Prof V Venkataramana as the vice-chairman II of the council was also cancelled.
Other notable figures whose appointment or extension orders were rescinded include Allam Narayana, the chairman of Telangana State Media Academy, Mohammed Saleem, the chairman of the State Haj Committee, and M Yadagiri Reddy, the chairman of State Roads Development Corporation and former MLA.
Several notable appointments made during the BRS government’s tenure have been rescinded by the government led by Revanth Reddy.
Thippana Vijayasimha Reddy, the ex-MLA from Miryalguda was appointed the chairman of Telangana State Agro Industries Development Corporation Limited in November last year. He was among those affected.
Similar was the fate of T Rajaiah, the BRS MLA from Station Ghanpur who was appointed as the chairman and director of the Telangana Rythu Bandhu Samithi in October this year, and Kondabala Koteswara Rao, the former Khammam district president of the TDP appointed chairman of the Telangana State Seeds Development Corporation Limited.
Other prominent names include Rajini Saichand, the widow of folk singer Saichand, appointed the chairperson of the Telangana State Warehousing Corporation.
Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy, former MLA and chairperson of Telangana State Roads Development Corporation Limited; Gellu Srinivas, president of BRS student wing and former chairperson of Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation Limited, and Y Satish Reddy, BRS spokesperson and former chairperson of Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation, also had their appointments rescinded.
Sardar Ravinder Singh, the Sikh face of the BRS, appointed chairman of the Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited in December 2022, was also affected.
The government revoked the appointments of Mohd Masiullah Khan as the chairperson of the Telangana State Wakf Board, Mohd Khaja Mujeebuddin as the president of the Telangana State Urdu Academy, and Mohd Imtiaz Ishaq as the chairperson of the Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation.
In the field of arts, the government rescinded the appointments of Deepika Reddy as the chairperson of the Telangana Sangeetha Nataka Academy and Juluri Gouri Shankar as the chairperson of the Telangana Sahitya Academy.
Allam Narayana, who resigned from the post of chairman of the Media Academy of Telangana, has also been affected.
Special chief secretaries, principal secretaries, secretaries, and special secretaries have been instructed to take necessary actions in light of these changes, despite many officials already submitting resignations before the new Chief Minister assumed office.
However, Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari issued orders on Sunday, indicating that the terminations would be effective from 7 December.
Consequently, personnel employed on a contractual, outsourcing, or hiring basis within the staff of these chairpersons or members would be terminated.
Government employees assigned to their offices as personnel staff would be repatriated, as outlined in the orders.
