Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekar Rao on Tuesday, 28 March, said that he would soon announce the date for the distribution of pattas for podu lands to tribals.
The chief minister. while reviewing the status at a meeting with officials at his official residence Pragathi Bhavan, said that the pattas would be distributed to eligible beneficiaries.
He said that Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari told him that the administration was ready with the patta books.
She told him that the passbooks for pattas for 4 lakh acres were ready for distribution to 1.55 lakh tribals.
Distribution of patta passbooks to the tribals has been hanging fire for years, which has led to frequent clashes between the Forest Department officials and the tribals over the ownership of the lands they have been cultivating.
The chief minister, in another decision, cleared the proposal for the celebration of Ram Navami at Bhadrachalam temple on 30 March.
The government took the decision as, for the last two years, no funds could be released as the state was in a financial straitjacket due to Covid-19.

The chief minister asked the officials to take steps to provide ₹3 lakh cash to those who had house sites for the construction of houses.
He asked the chief secretary to prepare guidelines for the release of funds to the beneficiaries.
He also wanted officials to get cracking with the second phase of the distribution of sheep to beneficiaries.
He said that the programme should begin soon and, at present, the procurement of sheep was taking place under the supervision of the district collectors concerned.

He asked the officials to release ₹10,000 per acre to each farmer affected by natural calamities as early as possible.

He also asked them to ensure that the compensation money was transferred to the farmers’ bank accounts.
He wanted the officials to ask the collectors to send reports clusters-wise on the damage done to the crops.
