Like the Dalit Bandhu scheme, Girijana Bandhu would be implemented for the benefit of tribals in Telangana if the BRS was voted to power again in the upcoming Assembly elections, said Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday, 14 November.

Addressing an election rally in Palakurthi in the Jangaon district, he said the Girijana Bandhu scheme would be extended to the eligible youth who are without land and jobs.

He reminded the crowd that it was the BRS government that extended reservations for tribals to 10 percent.

“Dalits should decide whether any prime minister or chief minister or party in the country is implementing [something like] the Dalit Bandhu scheme. The parties use Dalits only as a vote bank. It was Chandrashekar Rao who came up with the idea of the Dalit Bandhu scheme in a phased manner,” he said.

He said the Congress failed to develop Telangana when it was in the united Andhra Pradesh on all fronts in its 50-year rule since Independence.

KCR added that the Palakurthi constituency did not get sufficient water to meet the irrigation requirements even though it was located between the Godavari and Krishna rivers.

Tall leaders became chief ministers in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh but failed to supply water to areas between the Krishna and Godavari rivers, he said.

‘Be careful while voting’

Exuding confidence that the BRS would again form government in Telangana, KCR cautioned the people to be careful while exercising their franchise.

He said if the right candidate was not elected, the people would suffer for the next five years.

The future of a family, constituency, and the state would rely on the support being extended to the right candidate during the elections, he added.

He said the farmers would get ₹16,000 each under the Dalit Bandhu scheme, but the existing scheme would be withdrawn if the Congress was voted to power.

He added that Congress leaders — including Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy — were speaking unnecessarily on the supply of 24-hour power to the agriculture sector.

In a separate public meeting in the Halia constituency in the erstwhile Nalgonda district, KCR criticised the senior Congress leader and former minister K Jana Reddy for failing to develop the constituency.
