Union Tourism Minister and Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday, 18 September, alleged that Sunday’s public meeting organised by the Congress at Thukkuguda on the outskirts of Hyderabad was sponsored by the BRS, which is in power in the state.
The public meeting was addressed by the former UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and others.

Reddy alleges Congress-BRS alliance
Reddy told reporters in New Delhi that the BRS was attempting to increase the influence of the Congress in Telangana keeping in view the rising public response to the BJP in the state.
Claiming that the BRS and the Congress were the same, he said the latter was lacking in cadre strength at the field level, and that the two parties would form an alliance after the upcoming Assembly elections.
Kishan Reddy said a conspiracy was being hatched to weaken the BJP in the state, but no one could achieve success in their attempts as the party’s popularity was increasing significantly every day.
The people in the state would not believe the Congress anymore because of its previous track record, he added.
The Congress was in such a situation that its leaders failed to extend greetings to the people in connection with Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations on 17 September, said Reddy.

Allegations of misgovernance
Kishan Reddy also said it was the Congress that delayed the process of carving out Telangana from Andhra Pradesh even after forging an alliance with the TRS, which is now the BRS.
He said the Congress introduced a Bill to carve out Telangana only after bowing to the pressure exerted by the 4 crore people in the state.
Referring to poll promises made during the public meeting in Thukkuguda, the Union minister said the Congress failed to implement the 16-point formula and the “Garibi Hatao” slogan given in 1971 to eradicate poverty.
This was also the case with the BRS, which failed to fulfil the aspirations of the people in Telangana in the last nine years, he added.
When the Congress was in power at the Centre and the state, several scams took place, he alleged.
Kishan Reddy also took strong exception to the alleged highhandedness towards the BJP activists while taking part in a deeksha organised in support of unemployed youth in the state. Most party activists were still undergoing treatment at the hospital, he noted.
He also sought to know why the police behaved in such a manner even after giving permission for the deeksha at Indira Park.
