Konatham Dileep decries 'illegal' arrest, calls Section 111 charge unjust

Former Telangana Social Media Director Konatham Dileep on Tuesday, 19 November, termed his arrest as illegal, when he went to the Cyber Crime Police Station to submit interim order of the Telangana High Court in an illegal case against him.

He said that the Revanth Reddy government, which has been harassing him for nine months, enacted a drama when he was in the Cyber Crime Police station on Monday, 18 November, along with his team of lawyers before arresting him.

He said: “The officials staged a drama, pretending to escort me downstairs, only to forcibly take me to the South Zone Task Force office in the Old City.”

He said after harassing him for several hours in the name of investigation, they finally announced his arrest in a case. “I firmly stated that all the allegations they made were false. I made it clear that this was part of a political vendetta, and these cases were being filed because the government’s failures were being exposed on social media,” he said in a message on X.

He said from there, he was taken to Osmania Hospital, where a medical certificate was issued. An hour later, he was presented before the magistrate at the Nampally court. During this time, they exerted immense pressure on him to sign fabricated documents which he allegedly refused.

Alleged government conspiracy

“The case for which the state government planned to arrest me and send me to jail already had clear High Court orders. There were lengthy arguments on this matter for about four hours at the Nampally Court. After examining the background of the case, the Honorable Judge issued orders not to send me on remand, citing the existing High Court orders,” he said.

He said that Revanth Reddy government’s conspiracy to imprison him in an illegal case has failed miserably for the third time. He said: “Last night, while I was on my way home after being released, I received news that the Task Force police were attempting to arrest me again. After so many instances of being harassed, it would be shameful for this government to detain me again in another illegal case.”

“The most shocking aspect is that criticising the Congress government’s failures on social media has now resulted in a case filed under the heinous section of IPC 111 for ‘Organised Crime’,” he said.

“This section carries the possibility of punishment ranging from five years to life imprisonment or even the death penalty. The Revanth Reddy government, which calls itself a ‘Praja Prabhuthvam (People’s Government), has fabricated cases under such stringent sections where no real case exists. The people of Telangana must ask themselves: Are we living in a democracy or a dictatorship?” he asked

“In reality, the biggest organised crime in this state is the looting orchestrated by Revanth Reddy and his family. The Congress leadership has committed a massive organised crime by making 420 false promises and deceiving the public,” he said.

‘Will not back down’

“As I have stated from the beginning, I have committed no crime, nor will I ever commit one. No matter how many illegal cases are filed or how many arrests are made, I will not back down. I have complete faith in the judiciary. We will fight within the framework of the law to protect our rights and the rights of Telangana. I will continue to expose this incompetent and corrupt Congress government on social media and in public, exercising the freedom of expression guaranteed to me by the Constitution,” he said.

Thanking members of the BRS, he said,”I extend my heartfelt thanks to KCR Garu, Ramanna, Harish Anna, all the BRS party leaders, members of the party’s legal cell, BRS social media warriors, BRS brothers, my family members, relatives, and friends who have stood by me every time the Congress government has tried to arrest me illegally.”

When contacted, the South Zone police and Task Force Police, denied arresting him. While South Zone Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shaik Jahangeer and Task force additional deputy Commissioner of Police, A Srinivasa Rao said they were not aware of the arrest of Konatham Dileep and that their respective divisions did not arrest him. Dileep maintained that he was taken to the South Zone Task Force office where they announced his arrest.
