Synopsis: The BRS launched a campaign to oppose what it calls the Telangana government’s attempts to hand over industrial lands worth nearly ₹5 lakh crore in Hyderabad to private players under the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy. BRS working president KT Rama Rao constituted fact-finding committees to investigate the alleged irregularities.
The BRS launched a vigorous campaign to oppose what it calls the Telangana government’s attempts to hand over industrial lands worth nearly ₹5 lakh crore in the Hyderabad metropolitan region to private players under the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy (HILTP).
Acting on the instructions of party chief K Chandrashekar Rao, BRS working president KT Rama Rao constituted fact-finding committees to investigate the alleged irregularities.
Rama Rao (KTR) held a teleconference with key party leaders, former ministers, MLAs and MLCs, issuing directions for a series of ground-level inspections across industrial clusters and said: “The truth behind the ₹5 lakh-crore scam must be placed before the people”
During the teleconference, KTR launched a scathing attack on the government. He alleged that lands allotted at nominal prices in the past for industrial development and job creation were now being reclassified under a “Multi-Use Zone” to benefit private real-estate players.
He claimed that nearly 9,300 acres of land were being regularised at only 30 percent of the Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) rate, far below market value, causing an “enormous loss of public wealth estimated at nearly ₹5 lakh crore”.
While the government cites a lack of land for Indiramma housing or even burial grounds, it is readily handing over thousands of crores worth of land to private individuals, he remarked.
BRS teams to tour industrial areas on 3 and 4 December.
To expose the government’s decisions, BRS will divide the major industrial zones around Hyderabad into eight clusters, with each team comprising senior leaders. During their visits, the teams will interact with local leaders and residents to demonstrate the large gap between market prices and government-notified prices — a process the party refers to as price discovery.
The teams will also examine long-pending public needs in these areas and highlight how lands originally acquired for industrial purposes — often through contributions from local farmers — were allotted cheaply to industrialists in the past and are now allegedly being diverted for commercial real-estate ventures.
On 3 and 4 December, eight fact-finding teams will tour various industrial clusters:
Cluster 1: Former minister T Harish Rao will lead the team with Gangula Kamalakar, Deshpati Srinivas and Medak MLAs to Pasamailaram, Patancheru and Ramachandrapuram.
Cluster 2: Former minister G Jagadish Reddy, along with Bandari Laxma Reddy, Surabhi Vani Devi and Uppal leaders, will visit Nacharam, Mallapur, Uppal and Cherlapally.
Cluster 3: S Madhusudhana Chary, Marri Rajasekhar Reddy and Ravinder Rao will inspect Moulali and Kushaiguda industrial zones.
Cluster 4: KTR, along with Satyavathi Rathod, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Madhavaram Krishna Rao, and KP Vivekanand, will tour Jeedimetla and Kukatpally.
Cluster 5: Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Kaleru Venkatesh, Mutha Gopal and Naveen Rao will cover Sanath Nagar and Balanagar.
Cluster 6: Chamakura Malla Reddy and Shambhipur Raju will visit the Medchal Industrial Park.
Cluster 7: Former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, Devireddy Sudheer Reddy, Swami Goud, Manchi Reddy Kishan Reddy and Karthik Reddy will inspect areas in Katedan and Hayathnagar.
Cluster 8: Former minister Mahmood Ali, Dasoju Sravan and MD Saleem will visit Chandulal Baradari industrial zone to assess the ground situation.
