Synopsis: BRS spokesperson Manne Krishank alleged that the Bhu Bharati system was misused for illegal land ownership transfers and mining activities. He also claimed that besides Rajya Sabha MP Vem Narendra Reddy, his family and a few officials benefited from the illegal actions.

Accusing the misuse of the Bhu Bharati system, BRS spokesperson Manne Krishank demanded a judicial inquiry into the land transfers and mining operations in Telangana.

Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, 19 May, Krishank alleged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s advisor and Rajya Sabha MP Vem Narendra Reddy had misused the Bhu Bharati system for illegal land ownership transfers and mining activities in Mahabubabad.

Besides the judicial probe, Krishank also demanded the immediate cancellation and restoration of the assigned lands to the rightful beneficiaries. He also urged the government to act against officials who had erred in favour of the MP, and investigate the alleged misuse of the Bhu Bharati portal by Narendra Reddy and the then district collector.

Krishank’s allegations

The BRS leader said assigned lands belonging to SC/ST beneficiaries in Kesamudram mandal’s Arpanpally village were illegally transferred to the name of Narender Reddy’s son, Vem Krishna Bhargav Reddy, through the Bhu Bharati portal.

Krishank stated that around 15 acres of assigned land were linked to the family and were being used for black granite mining operations through a firm named Sri Sai Krishna Granites, operated in the name of Narender Reddy’s wife, Vem Vijayalakshmi.

Presenting what he said as copies of land passbooks, survey details, mining department records, and election affidavits, Krishank questioned how assigned and prohibited lands were converted and registered despite clear legal restrictions.

Krishank said these lands did not appear in earlier election affidavits filed by Narender Reddy during previous electoral contests and surfaced only in recent disclosures after the Congress government came to power.

The BRS leader also alleged that district officials, including then Mahabubabad Collector Advaith Kumar Singh, approved the ownership and registration changes despite the lands being officially categorised as assigned and prohibited lands in government records.

Officials rewarded, says Krishank

Krishank questioned how mining permissions were granted on assigned lands and accused officials of acting under political pressure. He further raised a possible quid pro quo, stating that officials who facilitated these approvals were later rewarded with prominent postings.

He pointed out that in February, Advaith Kumar Singh was transferred from Mahabubabad, a move reportedly celebrated by locals in the district and was subsequently appointed as Special Secretary to Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi, around the same time Narender Reddy assumed office as a Rajya Sabha MP.

Krishank stated that the BRS party would pursue legal remedies, including approaching the Lokayukta and filing Public Interest Litigation (PIL) before courts, apart from submitting formal complaints to the authorities concerned.
