From the 2025–26 academic year, Dr BR Ambedkar Open University will offer free degree courses to all transgender persons in Telangana.
Anyone with a 10+2 qualification can enrol in any program by paying only a ₹500 registration fee, with free course material, study tools, and access to study centres.
Vice Chancellor Professor Ghanta Chakrapani launched the initiative under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy vision of empowering the transgender community through education and employment.
The move follows the CM’s earlier step of integrating transgender individuals into traffic roles and mirrors BRAOU’s similar schemes for prisoners, military personnel, and marginalized tribal children.
