Synopsis: Telangana CM Revanth Reddy launched a fierce attack on BRS, branding it “Blackmail Rajakiya Samithi” and accusing KCR’s family of land grabs, wealth accumulation, and illegal phone tapping. He alleged scams worth thousands of crores, criticised BJP’s protection of BRS, and urged voters to reject both parties. He highlighted Congress’ welfare, housing, and urban development initiatives.
Launching a scathing attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday, 8 February, alleged that the party thrived on “blackmail politics” during its decade-long rule and was now facing the consequences of what he termed “unpardonable sins.”
Addressing a public meeting at Chelpur in Bhupalpally district, the CM said “BRS” stood for “Blackmail Rajakiya Samithi.”
He accused former chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and his family of amassing enormous wealth, grabbing lands and blackmailing businessmen through illegal phone tapping.
Revanth Reddy said revelations on phone tapping during BRS regime were sufficient proof of how businessmen were coerced. Citing BJP MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, he claimed that phones of industrialists were tapped, their private conversations monitored and they were forced to transfer properties.
He said hundreds of crores of rupees were allegedly looted through such practices, he alleged, claiming that over Rs 1,500 crore in BRS party accounts came through unethical means.
Revanth Reddy said BRS leadership had harassed not only political opponents but also journalists, judges and even film personalities, adding that private conversations between husbands and wives were also intercepted. “These sins are now coming back to haunt them,” he said.
He came down heavily on the Centre and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy for what he described as shielding BRS leaders in the Kaleshwaram project and Formula E race cases.
He questioned why no CBI probe had been ordered into the alleged scams. “Is Kishan Reddy not protecting KCR and KTR?” he asked, sarcastically remarking that Kishan Reddy had “rechristened himself as Kishan Rao and become the adopted son of KCR.”
Drawing a contrast, the CM alleged that the Centre had harassed Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi by foisting ED and CBI cases, while going soft on BRS. He said Kishan Reddy was acting as a bridge to protect KCR, KTR and Harish Rao, and warned that he would continue to call the Union Minister “Kishan Rao” until action was taken.
Turning to governance issues, Revanth ruled out any immediate creation or abolition of districts. He accused BRS of spreading false propaganda that Bhupalpally district would be scrapped for political gains.
“No district will be abolished and no new district will be created without a detailed discussion in the Assembly and after taking everyone’s opinion,” he said, urging people not to fall prey to what he called politics of conspiracy.
He also appealed to voters to reject both BRS and BJP in the forthcoming municipal elections, describing them as “two sides of the same coin” working together to defeat Congress. He said KCR had ruled the state for 10 years and PM Modi had been in power since 2014, yet local problems remained unresolved.
“Vote for Congress if you want solutions,” he said, adding that Modi had never visited Bhupalpally and KCR was “resting in his farmhouse.”
Revanth Reddy highlighted that Congress government had sanctioned Rs 17,442 crore for municipalities and corporations across Telangana, including ₹6,116 crore for municipalities in the erstwhile Warangal district and ₹92 crore for Bhupalpally municipality. He accused former municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao of neglecting urban development.
On welfare, the CM slammed BRS for failing to deliver on its promise of double-bedroom houses for the poor, while alleging that KCR and his family built sprawling farmhouses in Erravally and Janwada and acquired media houses and businesses worth thousands of crores. He announced that the present government was constructing 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses at a cost of Rs 22,500 crore, with 3,500 houses in each constituency, and promised a second phase in the upcoming budget.
Revanth also assured Singareni workers that pending issues would be resolved. He announced the continuation of compassionate appointments and resolution of the issue of 217 dismissed workers. He recalled the sacrifices of Singareni workers and the role of the region in the Telangana movement.
Outlining future plans, he said that the government would organise the Godavari Pushkaralu in 2027 on a grand scale and develop the stretch from Basara to Bhadrachalam as a major tourist destination with an investment of Rs 3,000–4,000 crore. He also spoke about efforts to supply water from the Jampanna stream to Ramappa Lake and praised ministers for successfully organising the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jathara.
