BJP national president JP Nadda to visit Telangana on 6 October to discuss poll strategies

PM, senior leaders to visit all districts

Modi will address two public meetings to be organised by the state BJP unit on 1 and 3 October in Mahbubnagar and Nizamabad districts, respectively.

This will be followed by Nadda’s visit to Telangana on 6 October. He will address leaders during the party’s extended committee meeting, to be conducted at Bongulur in the Hyderabad suburbs in the Ranga Reddy district.

Nadda will discuss the election strategy and the key aspects to be included while preparing the manifesto, apart from finalising the list of candidates aspiring to contest the Assembly polls in the state.

Once the visits of Modi and Nadda are completed, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the state.

Shah’s schedule is expected to be finalised after Modi and Nadda’s visit. The party is conducting these meetings covering all the 10 districts in Telangana to explain the development programmes and welfare schemes initiated for the state by the Union government in the last nine years.

The chief ministers of the BJP-ruled states will attend as chief guests during the meetings to be convened at the headquarters in all the districts, party sources said, adding that all 40 meetings would be organised in the next month.

The BJP is expected to highlight the preferences given by the Centre to Telangana in constructing highways, laying new railway lines, introducing Vande Bharat trains and granting national institutions to Telangana since its formation in 2014.

The party is also explaining the benefits that would be reaching the state with the double engine ‘sarkar’ if the BJP is voted to power in the Assembly elections.

BRS seeking apology

However, the BRS is seeking an apology from the prime minister ahead of his visit to the state.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao had on 26 September, sought an apology from him for his “disparaging” remarks on the state’s formation.

Accusing Modi of disrespecting Telangana’s formation in Parliament, Rama Rao said: “We recently celebrated the state’s 10th anniversary, but PM Modi failed to acknowledge this milestone, even when the people of Adilabad to Alampur and every corner of the state celebrated this significant occasion. We demand an apology from PM Modi and an explanation for his political statements.”

By speaking insultingly about the formation of Telangana in the last decade, he has hurt the self-respect of its people, the minister stated.

He referred to Modi’s statement in Parliament on how Telangana was born to say: “Saying that the child was taken out by killing the mother shows lack of knowledge and wisdom.” He insisted the BJP would face the curse of the people for insulting them and their sacrifices.

Considering the continued neglect of Telangana, “the BJP has no political future in the state”, he said.
