BJP leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy has demanded that the people of Telangana have to be briefed about the health of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
He said that there had been a “veil of secrecy” about the health condition of the chief minister.
This comes after BJP national vice-president DK Aruna alleged that Telangana IT Minister KTR and Telangana Health Minister T Harish Rao were fighting among themselves and neglecting the health of KCR.
KTR is the son, and Harish Rao is the nephew of the chief minister.
The BRS supremo has been suffering from viral fever and has contracted a secondary bacterial infection.
In a letter to Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday, 7 October, Marri Shashidhar Reddy said that over the past couple of weeks, KCR had not been seen in public.
He said that suddenly a disclosure was made by KTR that his father had a secondary (bacterial) infection of the lungs.
Marri Shashidhar Reddy, who is the son of Marri Chenna Reddy, the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh before its bifurcation, said, “Having been the son of a well-known public figure who was twice the chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh and Governor of four different states, I am personally aware of the protocols followed in such situations.”
He said that whenever there are instances of illness in a person holding such a high public office, regular health bulletins are put out by the hospital authorities and state government health officials.
Reddy requested the Governor to direct the Telangana chief secretary to do so.
“Many people have expressed concern over the condition of Rao. This is more so in view of what has been discussed in many circles, that pressure is being exerted on him by his immediate family members to anoint his son as the chief minister,” he said.

Meanwhile, BJP national vice-president DK Aruna told reporters in Hyderabad on Saturday that KTR seemed to be keen to become the next chief minister. However, it was his responsibility to take care of his father as well, she said.
After falling sick, KCR had been in his farmhouse, but no one was taking care of him, she alleged.
Both KTR and Harish Rao were in a hurry and strategising in view of the forthcoming Assembly elections, promising 2BHK flats, BC Bandhu, and other false promises, said the BJP leader.
The BRS leaders were collecting 30 percent of the total Dalit Bandhu funds disbursed to the beneficiaries, she alleged.
Aruna also cautioned the people of Telangana not to believe in the election gimmicks and false promises being made by KTR and Harish Rao.
KTR on 26 September, said that the chief minister had been ill for a week. He had been suffering from viral fever and cough, added KTR.
He said that KCR was being treated at home by a medical team, adding that he was being closely monitored. KTR also expressed hope that his father would fully recover within a few days.
On Friday, KTR told reporters that KCR had contracted a secondary infection and should be okay in a couple of days.
“He also unfortunately had a secondary infection, a bacterial infection. So, it is taking longer than usual. His viral subsided and then the bacteria started. He has some infection in the chest. He should be out in a day or two,” said the Telangana minister, adding that KCR’s viral fever had subsided.
