The Telangana BJP unit complained to the Election Commission of India (ECI) against the state government for failing to administer the oath to its party’s national vice-president DK Aruna, even after the state’s high court passed an order recently declaring her the MLA from the Gadwal Assembly constituency.

The court declared the election of sitting MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy as void.

A delegation, led by Aruna and comprising former MLC N Ramchander Rao, among others, met Chief Election Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj and submitted a copy of the court order to him.

Earlier, in a letter addressed to the Telangana Legislative Assembly secretary, Aruna requested that she be administered the oath to her as a member of the Legislative Assembly and comply with the judgement issued by the high court.

But it did not happen, which is said to have prompted her to lodge a complaint with the CEO.

‘Telangana a hub for murders’

Meanwhile, suspended BJP MLA T Raja Singh on Friday, 1 September, said that Telangana had become a hub for murders as, every day, either a murder or a robbery was taking place.

He said that Telangana Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali had become a rubber-stamp leader, and compared him with the Uttar Pradesh home minister, who happened to be the state’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Raja Singh also sought to know if those who spoke against the AIMIM would be killed.

He said that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao should replace the state’s home minister with someone else.

“We will show the type of punishment to be given for committing a murder,” he added.

NV Subhash targets Opposition

Reacting to comments by political parties regarding the convening of a special session of Parliament, Telangana BJP official spokesperson NV Subhash said that Parliament was a temple of democracy to discuss every issue relating to the nation and not to panic or surprise political parties.

The country’s economy had increased manifold, and it was successfully conducting the G20 summit, while some bold and important Bills might be introduced in Parliament, he said.

“If you panic and get surprised, please hold your breath till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections,” he said, in an apparent jibe at the Congress and other political parties, adding: “You will panic more after the election results.”

Regarding the comment made by former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on China usurping Indian land, the senior BJP spokesperson said, “Parliament should first discuss how China captured 45,000 sq km of Indian land when Jawaharlal Nehru was Prime Minister of the country. The Indian public wants to know the answer now.”

Subhash additionally called the INDIA bloc meeting, held in Mumbai, a congregation of corrupt leaders involved in different corruption charges. “This alliance has neither any agenda nor any direction to develop the country and for the welfare of people,” he said.

“Its only agenda is to remove Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is determined to take action against those involved in corruption charges. Most of the alliance leaders are out on bail and still facing corruption charges,” he alleged.
