The working president of the ruling BRS in Telangana, KT Rama Rao, alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments at a public meeting in Adilabad were full of “Jhoot Aur Jumla”.

Taking a dig at Shah for claiming that Telangana had the highest number of farmers’ suicides, KTR shared a news clippings which stated the contrary — that Telangana had the lowest number of farmer suicides.

“Who’s propagating blatant lies on farmer suicides in Telangana? @AmitShah Ji or his NDA Govt? The Bakwaas Jhoot Party’s DNA is full of Jhoot Aur Jumla No matter how hard you try to deceive #TelanganaWithKCR,” he wrote on X on Wednesday, 11 October.

“Amit Shah’s statements at the Adilabad public meeting are filled with blatant lies. Amit Shah has become a laughing stock in Telangana,” KTR, the son of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), said in a statement on Tuesday.

KTR hits out over appointment of Jay Shah

KTR also said that it was ironic to hear him speak of dynastic politics.

The Home Minister should clarify “where his son Jay Shah played cricket or provided coaching” before being appointed as secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), KTR questioned.

“Amit Shah, during a speech in Adilabad district five years ago, pledged to revive the dormant Cement Corporation of India. Half a decade later, the promise remains unfulfilled,” the BRS leader said.

He accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of neglecting Telangana. In the decade since Telangana’s inception, not a single educational institution has been granted to the state, KTR stated.

He said that Shah’s claim that Telangana holds the top position in the country in farmer suicides is false and misleading.

“The BJP copied the BRS government’s ‘Rythu Bandhu’ investment support scheme for farmers and other schemes from Telangana and is alleging that the farmers of the southern state are committing suicide,” KTR said.

‘BJP using religion for political gains’

“The BJP is more interested in using religion for political gains, potentially disrupting communal harmony,” he alleged.

The BRS leader also said that Shah should provide a detailed account of what the BJP has done for Telangana over the past decade before asking people for votes.

Referring to Shah’s allegation that the “steering” of the BRS (the party’s poll symbol is the car) is in the hands of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), he assured that it is in the hands of KCR.

“People are tired of the empty promises made by BJP leaders during elections. Instead, they should address issues like unemployment and rising essential commodity prices,” KTR said.

During the meeting, Shah focused on criticising the BRS and its association with the AIMIM, which he referred to as the “Majlis”, while also praising the Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Shah criticises possibility of KTR being CM

Shah also strongly criticised the possibility of KTR being suggested for the chief minister’s position in the future.

The Union Home Minister also attacked the Congress, accusing it of engaging in dynasty politics.

Amit Shah said that the transformation of the country in the last nine years had been possible due to a visionary leader, who understands the aspirations of the people, and the BJP, a party that operates on principles.

“In contrast, KCR’s party should announce its principles and policies, if any exist. Its goals seem unclear, from saving Kavitha from jail to appointing KTR as chief minister. It appears to be dynastic and does not promote democracy. In a party lacking internal democracy, one cannot expect it to utilise the democratic platform to benefit the people; instead, their focus is on their own families,” Shah said.
